Job Description Summary

The Aero Packaging PDE Sr. Engineering Manager Functional role is part of the CMPD organization. This individual will lead globally the Aero PDE team to transform Engineering design intent into product definition using advanced CAD technology and Model Based Engineering fundamentals. The candidate will satisfy the needs of Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering processes to achieve maximum benefits to the company. In addition, he/she will drive the team strategy, maintain a productive team environment, foster technical development, accountability, and cross-functional efforts to achieve and maintain Engineering excellence with an SQDC mindset.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • As People Leader provide strategic leadership to Aero Packaging PDE Teams in Queretaro.
  • Functionally lead the Aero Packaging PDE Team in the execution in the execution of innovative new product designs, including delivery of 3D model-based designs with PMI, GD&T, specifications, Bill of Materials, and documentation.
  • Manage team deliverables and interact closely with the other Engineering organization managers (inside and outside PDE) to execute with quality, on-time and meet NPI, REQ and FPC budgets to assure business needs are covered as well as internal/external customer satisfaction. 
  • Effectively prioritize and resolve emergent issues for customers, services, repair, manufacturing, and supply chain.
  • Drive a strong operating rhythm, promote a strong vision, and communicate progress on priorities and strategy.
  • Ensure timely communication of technical and business information between organizations and within the team.      
  • Serve as a coach, mentor and leader for direct reports and the global reach.
  • Drive the strategy for the team’s technical growth thru tools such TGM and the EVGM.
  • Directly impact product margins through execution of the cost out plan.
  • Partner with Gas Turbine engineering and manufacturing organizations globally to align priorities and promote a “one team” environment.
  • Promote continuous improvement through Lean, implementing process/technology enhancements for increased quality and productivity.
  • Drive visibility and harmonization with global CMPD teams including design, tools and processes.
  • Grow team’s technical capabilities in advance 3D modeling, PMI, GD&T, coding and automation.
  • Incorporate and drive a strong Quality Culture promoting a sense of ownership and accountability. Oversee NCN execution and evaluate root cause and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Oversee engineering change revisions and evaluates root cause and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Provide strong and proactive team representation with program managers during the program funding budget planning cycle.
  • Manage 3rd party Purchase Service Agreements, SOW’s, and SW&L funding for procurement of hardware/software, services and fixed scope resources.
  • Drive team adherence to Engineering/Drafting design practices and quality procedures.
  • Deliver innovation and optimization in support of the Digital Thread strategy through the model-based enterprise and digital tools.
  • Partner with Aero Design Engineering functions to resolve technology barriers in advance manufacturing and design to increase competitiveness and profitability.
  • Promote an inclusive and collaborative global environment where everyone can contribute and grow.
  • Lead with candor, transparency, and humility with unyielding integrity.
  • Conduct performance reviews and make personnel decisions for team. Continuously evaluate the performance of the team and timely make the actions needed to address performance or non-expected behavior (team and individual).
  • Resolve conflict that may arise within the team or during collaboration with other teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Power Generation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with peers and leadership (including executives) in Spanish and English. Able to present key data effectively and clearly. Communicate assertively.
  • Experience in managing of budgets, HC, and program progress.
  • Experience coordinating relevant projects with autonomy/ownership
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills or the ability to document, plan, market, execute, control, close, and manage programs, projects, orders, activities, or systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with Design and other engineering counterparts.
  • Resilience and effective collaboration during high demand/pressure scenarios.
  • Ability to assess and understand complex processes in a short amount of time.  Through process expertise, ability to lean out processes to remove waste and non-value-added routines.
  • Only GEVQ Gas Power candidates will be considered for this position. The candidate must currently have a band level equivalent to SPB3 as minimum to apply for this position.
