Job Title: Electrical / Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Reports to: Maintenance & Facilities Manager
Non-Exempt Position
Location: East Canton, OH
Knight Material Technologies is currently hiring an Electrical / Mechanical Maintenance Technician at our East Canton, Oh facility. The Electrical / Mechanical Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs plant production machinery, support equipment, and building systems to support the ability to meet customer requirements while maintaining an environment that focuses on the Knight Material Technologies How We Work Principles of Safety and Compliance, Customer Focus, Respect, Integrity, Problem Solvers, and Teamwork.
Responsibilities:
- Consistently demonstrate and maintain an environment that puts Safety and Compliance first

- Performs diagnostic tests and interpret results from precision instruments to troubleshoot issues with equipment.
- Executes preventive and predictive maintenance tasks on production and facility equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Repairs or replace faulty mechanical and electrical components, including motors, pumps, drives, sensors, and valves.
- Installs new electromechanical systems by reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Works with industrial automation systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
- Maintains and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Collaborates with engineers, other technicians, production and materials team members on installations, upgrades, and complex repairs.
- Documents all maintenance activities, repairs, and test results in a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
- Ensures all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations, electrical codes, and company procedures.
- Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
- Keeps leadership ahead of the need to order supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Hands-on experience with mechanical maintenance, repair, and rebuild work
- Experience troubleshooting electrical equipment, AC/DC motors and drives, schematics, and PLC-related systems
- Industrial equipment experience in a manufacturing or plant environment
- Understanding of EHS expectations and NFPA 70E
- Ability to obtain forklift certification
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- A strong desire to learn, contribute, and grow with the team
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Five or more years of combined mechanical and electrical maintenance experience
Physical Demands: Unusual Working Conditions (With reasonable accommodation)
- Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to squat, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be willing and able to stand and work up to a 10-hour day in a non-climate-controlled facility
- Must be able to work in angled positions, including overhead and near ground level
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including fall protection harness, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, and steel-toe work shoes
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and/or weekends when business needs require
