Description
Are you an experienced quality engineer with a ‘can do’ attitude and enthusiasm that inspires others?
And are you eager to work on delivering high quality products to our customers?
About our Team:-
GLoSS (Global Localization Solutions & Services) is Elsevier's central localization technology and expertise service. We deliver shared infrastructure, AI-powered translation tools, linguistic data assets, and localization expertise to teams across the business, from Journal Operations and Clinical Solutions to Marketing and Product. Launched in 2021, we've grown rapidly and work in a matrixed environment with stakeholders across functions and geographies.
We are part of Operations and sit within the AI and Knowledge Operations department. Our team is small, high-impact, and globally distributed. This role is based in India and reports to the Localization Solutions Manager in Amsterdam.
About the Role:-
As Multilingual Quality & Terminology Specialist, you will own the day-to-day execution of two closely related capability streams: multilingual AI quality evaluation and terminology management. Working alongside capability leads and cross-functional partners across product, content, GenAI Evaluation, and Data Science, you will run evaluations, maintain terminology infrastructure, coordinate reviewer networks, and turn results into clear, actionable recommendations.
Terminology and language quality are increasingly recognized across Elsevier as critical infrastructure for AI: the data layer that makes AI outputs trustworthy, consistent, and defensible. You will play a direct role in building and scaling these capabilities across the business.
This is a new kind of role, in a space where new approaches are developing fast. The right candidate brings solid localization expertise, genuine curiosity about AI, and the confidence to build in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
Responsibilities:-
Run multilingual AI quality evaluations across translation tools, models, and use cases, producing insights that inform product and localization decisions
Coordinate and manage reviewer networks for evaluation and terminology programs
Build and maintain terminology infrastructure: term bases, style guides, and multilingual language assets across Elsevier domains, including governance processes and stakeholder-specific terminology structures
Prepare and present quality readouts for AI product and localization teams, translating evaluation findings into clear, actionable recommendations
Onboard and support stakeholders on evaluation methodologies and terminology processes
Collaborate with GenAI Evaluation, AI product, platform, and content teams to integrate quality and terminology into shared workflows
Work effectively across a globally distributed, matrixed organization with stakeholders at varying levels of technical and linguistic expertise
Requirements:-
Background in localization, language technology, or NLP/AI with a strong language focus
Solid understanding of terminology management, with hands-on experience building or maintaining term bases or style guides
Solid grounding in translation quality evaluation concepts and metrics; hands-on experience with LLM evaluation or MT benchmarking is a strong plus
Genuine curiosity about AI and what it means for multilingual quality: you follow the space and are eager to develop hands-on experience
Comfortable working with structured data, AI tools, and technical workflows; willing to learn new tools and approaches as the technology evolves
Strong coordination and collaboration skills, comfortable working across teams, disciplines, and time zones
Clear communicator in English, able to translate technical findings for non-technical audiences
Comfortable with ambiguity: you take ownership, bring your own ideas, and develop your thinking rather than waiting for direction
Eager to grow in a fast-moving field where the best practices are still being defined{Empty}
