This full‑time position offers an hourly rate of $25.50/hr, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes major medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 403(b) retirement plan, short‑ and long‑term disability, AD&D coverage, ASPCA pet insurance, a DoorDash discount, 20 days of paid time off per year, 12 paid holidays, and one floating holiday.

What does a Specialist, Event Production do?

As a Specialist in Event Production at United Way for Southeastern Michigan, you will play a crucial role in the planning and execution of nonprofit events focused on human services. On a day-to-day basis, you can expect to collaborate with various teams to develop event concepts, manage logistics, and oversee production to ensure smooth operations. Your schedule will primarily fall within core hours, Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. However, be prepared for extensive regional travel, as you will need to attend events and engage with stakeholders across various locations. Frequently, your evenings and weekends may be occupied by events, requiring flexibility and a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences.

Emphasizing a customer-centric approach, you will continually problem-solve and innovate to elevate our fundraising initiatives and corporate events.

What we're looking for in a Specialist, Event Production

To thrive as a Specialist in Event Production at United Way for Southeastern Michigan, you will need a diverse skill set tailored for the dynamic nonprofit landscape. Being organized and detail-oriented is essential, as you will be responsible for managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivation and the ability to work independently will enable you to stay on track while meeting deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are crucial, as you will engage with various stakeholders and must enjoy working with people in collaborative group settings.

A cultural sensitivity and the ability to engage diverse populations will enhance your effectiveness in this role. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, while a bachelor’s degree in marketing communications, community engagement, human services, or a related field is preferred. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years of experience in event support or management is necessary, along with reliable transportation and a willingness to travel as needed.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

Qualifications:

HS Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, community engagement, human services, or related field preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in event support/management or related role.

Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel as needed

Hybrid Schedule with two (2) or more days in the office each week.

Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull supplies, materials, signage, boxes, etc. weighing up to 25-30 lbs independently.
