MUFG is seeking an Assistant Vice President Treasury Services to join their esteemed Trade Finance Services team in London. What you'll do:
- Provide processing and technical consultation services to Commodity and Structured Trade Finance as well as Transaction Banking Divisions across the EMEA region, ensuring all transactions are handled efficiently and accurately.
- Support the drive and development of the team by embracing change, streamlining processes, enhancing controls, and maximising efficiencies under the guidance of senior management.
- Ensure strict adherence to procedures, controls, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements while assisting with motivation and direction of analysts to deliver exceptional service.
- Lead sub teams through structural changes necessary for business growth by utilising interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and cohesion.
- Identify training opportunities within the team to raise technical abilities related to governing rules, system usage, procedure adherence, team spirit, and client centricity.
- Check and release work across various functions with a focus on applying operational procedures, controls, and governing rules effectively.
- Distribute work fairly among team members by communicating openly with other Assistant Vice Presidents in an effective and constructive manner.
- Promote a customer-first attitude by communicating professionally with clients, embracing Japanese culture and corporate values underpinning MUFG’s behaviours.
- Act as a coach and mentor for junior team members by providing technical advice and support whenever needed.
- Deliver effective solutions for process improvements while supporting management with staff concerns and being the first point of contact for day-to-day issues.
What you bring:
- Comprehensive experience working in trade finance operations with proven ability checking shipping documents against UCP600 standards as well as LCs themselves and ISBP guidelines.
- Thorough understanding of all trade finance products including import/export LCs, LGs (Letters of Guarantee), collections (clean/documentary), and financing options.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UCP600, URDG758, URC522 plus other relevant ICC publications governing international trade finance practices.
- Awareness of money laundering controls specific to trade finance operations along with UK, Japan, OFAC sanction policies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel for workflow management; familiarity with formatting Swift messages is essential.
- Excellent workflow management skills enabling you to handle large volumes of transactions efficiently while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail coupled with numerical skills that ensure error-free processing even during periods of high pressure or transaction spikes.
- Outstanding communication skills allowing you to build effective relationships with clients as well as internal stakeholders across multiple entities.
- Team building abilities demonstrated through previous experience fostering collaboration among colleagues while supporting their technical development.
