Factory Manager (Carpentry & Joinery)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Factory Manager to lead our carpentry and joinery manufacturing operations in Johor, Malaysia. Supporting interior fit-out and custom joinery projects in Singapore, the successful candidate will be responsible for the factory's overall production performance, quality, manpower, materials, and timely delivery.

This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical knowledge of custom joinery manufacturing and the ability to coordinate effectively with project teams in Singapore.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily factory operations and ensure production targets, quality standards and delivery schedules are met.
• Plan and manage production schedules based on project timelines, priorities and available resources.
• Coordinate closely with Singapore project, design and procurement teams on production requirements, technical specifications and delivery schedules.
• Oversee the fabrication of custom-built joinery, cabinetry, furniture and other interior fit-out components.
• Review shop drawings and production drawings to ensure manufacturing accuracy and feasibility.
• Optimise the use of manpower, machinery, materials and factory capacity.
• Establish and maintain effective quality-control procedures throughout the production process.
• Identify and resolve production issues while reducing defects, material wastage, rework and delays.
• Lead, train and supervise production supervisors, carpenters, machine operators and factory workers.
• Monitor workforce productivity, performance, discipline and skills development.
• Manage material planning, inventory levels, procurement coordination and stock control.
• Ensure machinery and production equipment are properly maintained and operating efficiently.
• Maintain workplace safety, housekeeping standards and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
• Prepare regular production, quality, inventory and operational performance reports for management.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Wood Technology, Construction or a related discipline.
• At least 8–12 years of relevant experience in carpentry, joinery, cabinetry, furniture or woodworking manufacturing.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience leading factory or production operations.
• Strong technical knowledge of custom joinery production, woodworking machinery, CNC equipment, materials, laminates, hardware and finishing processes.
• Able to read and interpret shop drawings, technical drawings and production specifications.
• Proven experience in production planning, manpower management, quality control and inventory management.
• Strong leadership, planning, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Able to work under pressure and manage multiple project deadlines.
• Good communication and coordination skills when working with cross-border teams.
• Must be willing to travel between Malaysia and Singapore.
