Job Summary
Responsible for mitigating the banks losses by following a portfolio approach by interacting, on a face to face basis with clients in default or financial distress, which will assist the client to normalize or rehabilitate their accounts, alternatively mitigate Absa risk by ways of recovery in a compliant wayJob Description
Key Responsibilities
Rehabilitation & Recovery
- Manage high-risk and impaired accounts proactively.
- Negotiate and implement rehabilitation solutions such as: Debt consolidation. Additional security/surety arrangements. Forbearance and repayment arrangements.
- Conduct financial assessments and evaluate customer affordability.
- Locate and engage customers in default through face-to-face interactions.
- Recover arrears and financed assets while minimizing losses to the bank.
- Inspect and value movable and immovable assets.
- Support legal recovery processes, including: Repossessions. Write-off recommendations. Sale in Execution matters. Court attendance as a witness where required.
- Conduct onsite assessments of businesses, agricultural operations, and other enterprises to determine sustainability and security value.
- Manage portfolio performance through effective planning, prioritization, reporting, and cost control.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with: Collections teams. Legal departments. Debt Review units. Business stakeholders. Attorneys. Sheriffs. Debt Counsellors. Insolvency Practitioners. Executors and tracing agents.
- Ensure adherence to legislation, compliance requirements, SLAs, and internal policies.
- Build and maintain strong external networks to support asset recovery and risk management.
- Escalate and report potential reputational risks to relevant stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
- NQF Level 6 qualification
- 3 to 5 years Collections experience
- Field Collections experience advantageous
- Valid driver's license with no endorsements
- Willingness to travel within the operational area.
- Position based in Durban.
Education
