Summary of Job Duties:

Join a dynamic, mission-driven team dedicated to transforming health in Eastern Arkansas, based out of our West Memphis, AR office site. As the Health Educator for the UAMS East Regional Campus, you will lead community outreach partnerships, deliver proven educational interventions, and inspire broader engagement across schools, churches, and community organizations. This role combines hands-on program leadership with strategic collaboration to elevate health literacy and healthy living in the region.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Public Health or a health-related field
  • Three (3) years of experience in Health Education, Administrative Roles, or Program assessment/development.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Communication: clear, persuasive oral and written communication tailored to diverse audiences; effective public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Community Engagement: ability to build trust, establish partnerships, and maintain ongoing community relationships.
  • Program Development: design, implement, and evaluate educational programs and interventions.
  • Project Management: plan timelines, manage multiple initiatives concurrently, and meet deadlines.
  • Data Management: accurate data entry, record-keeping, and basic evaluation metrics.
  • Collaboration: working effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
  • Problem-Solving: identify needs, propose practical solutions, and adjust programs as needed.
  • Adaptability: flexibility to respond to changing community needs and event schedules.
  • Resourcefulness: ability to create promotional materials and leverage community networks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's in Heath Education or a related field.
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
  • Experience working with SPSS Statistics Software and/or REDCap Software.


Additional Information:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Kids for Health: deliver a 10-week curriculum in schools, covering health topics from hygiene to exercise.
  • Diabetes Education (DEEP): plan, execute, and assess community diabetes education programs.
  • Child Safety and Baby Safety Showers: organize and evaluate parent-focused safety trainings.
  • Car Seat Checks and Installation: conduct safety checks and promote proper installation.
  • Health Screenings/Fairs: prepare and present information at community screenings.
  • Community Health Programs: design and evaluate initiatives promoting nutrition, activity, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Outreach and Promotion: assist with event planning, create promotional materials, and coordinate public communications.
  • Collaboration: partner with pre-professionals to plan initiatives like MASH, CHAMPS, and Day in the Life.
  • Guest Relations: represent UAMS with professionalism and warmth at events.
  • Administrative Duties: daily site reporting, data entry, weekly logs, and program publicity.
  • May perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of UAMS East Regional Campus.
