Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to Optimizes the Production organization's assembly methods, processes, and equipment to minimize labor hours in accordance with business strategies related to quality, efficiency, costs, and safety.

As a Tooling Specialist, you will support for ABB India – Electrification, Smart Power Business to be based at Nelamangala – Bangalore.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Material & Process Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of ferrous, non-ferrous, and insulation materials, with practical experience in sheet-metal and non-ferrous stamping, hot/cold forging, machining, assemblies, heat treatment, and surface treatment processes.
Tooling & Manufacturing Development: Oversee development and validation of press tools, molds, gauges, fixtures, and sub-assemblies; review DFM and ensure tooling meets required standards for precision, durability, quality, and manufacturability.
Supplier Development & Localization: Identify and develop suitable Indian suppliers, lead part localization based on engineering drawings and specifications, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely development and regular supply of critical parts.
Quality & Engineering Validation: Conduct PPAP, joint inspections, sampling inspections, tooling trials, and dimensional/process validation; collaborate with Global/US Engineering and Quality teams to validate critical components and close technical issues.
Project, Cost & Stakeholder Management: Manage cost-saving initiatives, monitor project milestones and development timelines, provide biweekly management updates, and ensure effective execution of supplier development projects within defined cost, quality, and delivery targets. Exposure to Low Voltage Electrical Switchgear and plastic mold development.
Qualifications for the role:
Educational Qualification: Diploma in Tool & Die Making from reputed institutions such as NTTF, GTTC, CTTC, or equivalent tooling institutes; alternatively, a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience.
Relevant Experience: Minimum 5–10 years of experience in press tool development, sheet metal component development, and tooling-related activities.
Engineering Drawing Skills: Solid ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
CAD & Modelling Skills: Practical experience in 3D solid modelling and AutoCAD, with the ability to support tooling and component development activities.
Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate with suppliers, engineering teams, and other stakeholders.
Global Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with US and international teams across different time zones, while demonstrating effective teamwork and collaboration skills.
Travel & Teamwork: Willingness to travel extensively across India and visit supplier locations to support tooling and component development, resolve issues, and ensure timely project completion; should work well with others.
