The actual location of this job is in Visp, Switzerland. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates and their families, if needed.

We are seeking an experienced Chemist / Chemical Engineer (m/f/d) with strong expertise in Downstream Processing (DSP) and in particular in preparative chromatography to join our team in Visp. In this strategic role, you will be responsible for the continuous improvement and advancement of DSP technologies across development and manufacturing, helping to maintain and strengthen the organization's competitive position in this field.

As a senior scientific and technical expert, you will provide leadership in DSP technologies, develop process, support other experts, serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, support commercial and business development activities, and contribute to strategic investment and growth initiatives.

What you will do:

  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in DSP technologies by staying current with industry developments and collaborating closely with Manufacturing, QA, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams

  • Act as the organization's technical and scientific expert for DSP technologies in customer interactions, commercial events, and the broader scientific community, while supporting technical sales activities and global sites

  • Lead and/or support DSP process development projects, including planning, supervision, and evaluation of laboratory activities, ensuring delivery against quality, cost, and timeline objectives

  • Support the transfer of DSP manufacturing processes into GMP production facilities and provide technical expertise during manufacturing campaigns

  • Lead or support troubleshooting activities, investigations, deviation assessments, document reviews, and process improvements in collaboration with Production, QA, QC, and customers

  • Define and support investment strategies for DSP equipment and technologies, including the evaluation and execution of capital investment projects

  • Drive growth and innovation initiatives by leading end-to-end DSP projects and contributing to strategic business development activities

What we are looking for:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline

  • Extensive expertise in Downstream Processing (DSP) within the biopharmaceutical, chemical, or related industry

  • Proven experience with preparative HPLC (Prep HPLC) and chromatographic purification processes is required

  • Strong background in process development, scale-up, and technology transfer

  • Experience working in GMP-regulated environments is an advantage

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Proven track record in leading large-scale CAPEX, investment, or technology implementation projects, delivering high-quality results on time; fluent English required, German is a plus.
