Kids in Tech is recruiting SPARK! AmeriCorps Members to serve elementary and middle school students in Boston during the 2026–2027 school year.

SPARK - STEM Pathways through AmeriCorps Resources for Kids - gives you the opportunity to spend a service year making a difference for young people while building hands-on experience in education, STEM, youth development, and community service.

During the school day, you'll help students strengthen their academic skills. After school, you'll help bring STEM to life through hands-on experiences in coding, robotics, engineering, computational thinking, digital literacy, and more.

During your service term, you'll receive a $16,000 living allowance paid biweekly. After successfully completing your 1,200 service hours, you'll also be eligible for an AmeriCorps Segal Education Award of approximately $5,176.50. You'll have opportunities to earn career-relevant credentials, participate in professional development, receive career coaching, and expand your professional network.

You don't need to be a STEM expert. We're looking for people who care about young people, are excited to learn, and want a meaningful experience that helps prepare them for what comes next.

What You'll Do

As a SPARK! AmeriCorps Member, you'll work alongside Kids in Tech staff, teachers, and school partners to:

• Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in math, science, and reading
• Support students with classroom activities and assignments
• Help students build confidence, persistence, and positive learning habits
• Facilitate Kids in Tech's hands-on, project-based STEM curriculum
• Lead activities in coding, robotics, engineering, computational thinking, digital literacy, and other STEM areas
• Guide collaborative projects that develop teamwork, communication, creativity, and problem-solving
• Help create safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environments
• Support Family STEM Nights and other approved community engagement activities
• Participate in AmeriCorps service activities, training, and professional development

The SPARK model combines school-day academic support with after-school STEM enrichment.

Your SPARK service year is designed to help you grow professionally while you serve.

Kids in Tech plans to provide SPARK! AmeriCorps Members with opportunities including:

• ACRES micro-credential
• Youth Mental Health First Aid certification
• CPR/First Aid certification
• Professional development in youth development, tutoring, and instructional practices
• Career development workshops and coaching
• Opportunities to build your professional network and connect with educators, STEM professionals, community partners, and other emerging leaders

You'll also participate in training throughout your service term in areas such as Kids in Tech curriculum, positive youth development, classroom management, lesson planning and design, STEM instructional practices, and child safety.

• Are ready to commit to completing the full AmeriCorps service term

You do not need to be a STEM expert to apply. We're looking for people with an interest in the work, the ability to connect with young people and collaborate with others, and a commitment to completing their service.

Service Commitment

Service Area: Boston, Massachusetts
Service Term: October 5, 2026 – June 16, 2027
Weekly Commitment: 40 hours, Monday–Friday
Total Service Commitment: 1,200 hours

Members complete eight service hours per day plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Exact schedules depend on school placement and generally fall within an 8:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m. timeframe. Occasional approved service events may take place outside the regular schedule.
