Position Overview
The Kitchen Prep team member supports daily meal preparation for residents and staff at the ITAKSIN Treatment Center and Residential Cottage. This role works under the guidance of the Food and Nutrition Manager to ensure meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and in alignment with established standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare food items in accordance with established menus and recipes
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, equipment, and workspaces
- Follow all sanitation and food safety requirements in compliance with Health Department regulations
- Monitor and document food temperatures prior to meal service
- Ensure all foods are held and served within appropriate temperature ranges
Food Safety & Handling
- Prepare meats and other high-risk foods to required internal temperatures
- Adhere to HACCP guidelines and safe food handling practices
- Maintain proper hygiene and sanitation procedures at all times
Team Collaboration & Service
- Serve meals according to scheduled times while remaining adaptable to program needs
- Interact respectfully with residents and staff during meal service
- Communicate any concerns regarding resident behavior to appropriate staff
- Support resident involvement in kitchen tasks as part of vocational programming
Additional Duties
- Complete other duties that may be assigned to this position periodically depending on the needs of the agency and/or Human Resources Director
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to work respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid Minnesota driver’s license required
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED and two years of experience in related field.
- Individual must be non-judgmental in regards to lifestyle, race and/or economic status of clients.
- Must be 21 years old and have a valid Minnesota Driver’s License.
