The Salvation Army (Salvos) Doorways model of care provides holistic financial support to individuals and families seeking short term financial assistance and ongoing financial management support services. Through our Christmas Cheer program, we help lower-income families in our community provide a joyful Christmas for their families.
About the role
We are seeking a Warehouse Assistant to support the Christmas Cheer program in the ACT. Reporting to the Doorways Regional Manager, this is a casual position based in Belconnen, ACT. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Road Transport & Distribution Award - Distribution Facility Employee - Level 1
This role is casual, average of 3 days per week from November to February.
How you will make an impact
- General warehouse duties at the Christmas Cheer warehouse
- Loading and unloading of vans / trucks
- Moving, sorting and packing toys and other donated items
- Assist the Doorways Regional Manager with directing and supporting the activities of volunteers
- Maintaining a clean and safe workplace, in a high-flow environment
- Report any hazards, near misses and incidents to Line Manager as soon as practicable, ensuring safety of all individuals, and ensuring adherence to TSA policy and procedures
- Other duties as relevant to the role, as required by the Doorways Regional Manager
What you will bring
- Experience in customer service or community services industries
- Proven experience in the recycling/transport industry would be highly desirable
- Self-motivated, high level of initiative and strong work ethic
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
- Team player, flexible with a positive attitude
- Customer service focused
- Solid level of computer literacy and basic bookkeeping
- Sound presentation and communication skills (both oral and written) to be able to interact and network positively with a variety of people.
