Job Description:
This is approximately a 12-month fixed term position
PURPOSE OF POSITION
As a member of the Finance Team, you will provide financial expertise and advice as well as financial analysis, monitoring, reporting, forecasting and controllership services across FSRA.
Additional duties will include:
Providing financial analysis and advice to clients in support of the control of their respective budgets, the annual accounting and financial cycle and monitoring of in-year/year-end performance of expenditures.
Communicating agency policies and processes to support clients in the effective management of financial resources and allocations.
Providing expertise and advice to senior management regarding financial controllership policies, best practices, risk management, auditing, and related issues.
Monitoring and analyzing trends and performance and advising clients regarding risks, pressures, and opportunities/options to facilitate decision making.
Recommending improvements to control processes and financial reporting databases to improve efficiency, ensure compliance and enhance the integrity of public reporting, and reduce financial and litigation risk.
QUALIFICATIONS
Specialized Knowledge and Experience
Demonstrated knowledge of modern controllership, general accounting principles and practices (GAAP) including accrual accounting practices and corporate and public sector and accounting legislation, policies, procedures, and practices to advise program areas on accrual accounting rules and to provide monitoring, reporting, analysis, financial planning, and risk management
Demonstrated experience to provide financial advice, assistance, training, and options to client with respect to reporting, financial planning, and management, and to prepare financial documents.
Skills
Proven oral and written communication skills to prepare a variety of financial reports, provide advice, maintain/analyze information, respond to queries and prepared training/communication materials, correspondence, and briefing materials
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and proven ability to interpret policies and to conduct analyses of various financial and related matters including identifying and addressing a range of controllership and financial issues.
Proven skills in the use/capabilities of corporate and internal financial and related information systems/databases and common software applications to monitor accounts, analyze financial data and prepare reports.
