Summary
Our client is a growing construction and engineering organization specializing in cleanroom construction, industrial facilities, and complex mechanical, electrical, and process system installations. They are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support technically complex industrial and cleanroom construction projects throughout the United States.
This position will be primarily based in the Ontario, California office, with travel to project sites as needed for field coordination, installation support, inspections, testing, commissioning, and other project requirements. The Electrical Engineer will work across multiple phases of projects, including preconstruction, design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project closeout.
The ideal candidate will have strong electrical engineering and construction coordination experience, with the ability to work closely with design consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, project managers, and field teams to resolve technical and constructability issues.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide electrical engineering design review, technical coordination, and field support for cleanroom, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, and other industrial projects
- Develop, review, and coordinate electrical systems, including:
- Power distribution
- Lighting
- Equipment power
- Grounding
- Emergency power
- Low-voltage systems
- Electrical interfaces for mechanical and process equipment
- Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, load calculations, equipment submittals, technical specifications, bills of materials, and subcontractor submissions
- Coordinate electrical requirements with HVAC, process, architectural, structural, fire protection, controls, and other disciplines
- Participate in electrical equipment and material selection
- Coordinate technical requirements with suppliers and subcontractors
- Work closely with design consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, project managers, and field teams to resolve technical and constructability issues
- Support electrical installation inspections, testing, commissioning, system acceptance, troubleshooting, and project closeout
- Provide technical support during construction and installation activities
- Travel to project sites as needed to provide field and technical support
- Support multiple project functions across preconstruction, design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Automation, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in building electrical systems, industrial electrical engineering, construction coordination, or field engineering
- Strong experience reading, reviewing, and coordinating electrical construction drawings, single-line diagrams, power distribution diagrams, control schematics, and related technical documents
- Knowledge of electrical load calculations, distribution equipment selection, cable sizing, short-circuit calculations, and voltage-drop calculations
- Familiarity with applicable U.S. electrical and building codes, including NEC, NFPA, IBC, and applicable local codes
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Familiarity with construction and document coordination tools such as Bluebeam, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), or BIM 360
- Strong English communication, technical analysis, field coordination, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams
- Familiarity with OSHA requirements and construction-site safety practices
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites throughout the United States as needed
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with cleanrooms, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, semiconductor, data centers, electronics, laboratories, food processing, healthcare, or other technically complex industrial facilities
- Experience supporting electrical systems for mechanical equipment, process equipment, and industrial utilities
- Experience supporting projects through construction, testing, commissioning, and closeout
- Experience with ETAP or similar electrical engineering analysis software
- PE license or EIT certification
- Direct experience working with U.S. contractors, subcontractors, equipment suppliers, and field construction teams
