POSITION: Multimedia Coordinator (Part-time)
DEPARTMENT: Pittsburgh Playhouse
REPORTS TO: Managing Director Marketing & Communications
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Multimedia Coordinator is a hands-on creative role for someone who loves visual storytelling, content development and live entertainment.
The Multimedia Coordinator helps bring the Pittsburgh Playhouse & Conservatory of Performing Arts (COPA) to life through social, digital, print and multimedia platforms. From performances and rehearsals to backstage moments, student achievements, artist interviews and community events, this part-time position captures and creates the materials and tells the stories audiences experience before, during and after each event from playbills, advertising and email campaigns to photography, video, social media and behind-the-scenes content.
Working closely with the Managing Director of Marketing & Communications, Pittsburgh Playhouse & COPA and the Marketing Manager, Pittsburgh Playhouse, the Multimedia Coordinator develops brand consistent content that engages audiences, drives ticket sales, supports donor engagement, enrollment and community relations, and strengthens the visibility of the Pittsburgh Playhouse and COPA. Responsibilities include graphic design, playbill development, gathering, organizing and editing production materials (both print and visual), copywriting and proofreading, photography and videography, photo, video, and audio editing, social media content, and other creative assets.
The ideal candidate is equal parts creative storyteller, content creator and detail-oriented producer; someone who can transform information, images, and moments into polished, engaging content. They are just as comfortable developing a playbill from submitted materials and polishing copy as they are designing campaign graphics, capturing a rehearsal, editing a reel or spotting the unexpected backstage moment audiences will want to share. This individual thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys collaborating with students, faculty, artists, and patrons, and can capture and share authentic moments that bring the Pittsburgh Playhouse experience to life.
Regular daytime office availability is required, along with frequent evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to capture performances, rehearsals, special events, media opportunities, and community activities. This role requires flexibility to adjust work hours, and location as needed while ensuring all responsibilities, deadlines, meetings, and event obligations are consistently completed in a timely and professional manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, Public Relations, Film, Photography, Graphic Design, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 2-4 years of experience creating digital media, social media content, photography, and video production.
- Proficiency in the following software: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and graphic design tools: Adobe Creative Cloud, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Canva.
- Proficiency in photography and videography skills, including knowledge of lighting, color-correcting, and sound/recording equipment including demonstrated expertise in photo editing and video editing.
- Experience creating short-form content for Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging digital platforms as well as creating podcasts.
- Experience creating motion graphics, promotional videos, sizzle reels, and social media campaigns.
- Ability to record and edit audio for radio commercials, promotional spots, and digital advertising.
- Strong creative writing skills for social media copy and weekly e-newsletters as well as visual storytelling and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Experience working in live entertainment, performing arts, higher education, or event environments preferred.
- Experience mentoring students, interns, volunteers, and creative teams preferred
- Passion for theatre, audience engagement, and customer experience
- Evening, weekend, holiday, and daytime office availability required based on performance and operational schedules
- Ability to flex work hours and work location as needed while ensuring responsibilities and deadlines are completed in a timely and professional manner
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Digital Content Creation & Social Media (35%)
- Create digital graphics for social media, email campaigns, websites, presentations, and promotional materials.
- Capture photography and video during performances, rehearsals, special events, classes, and community activities.
- Plans, storyboards, shoots, edits, and produces compelling video content.
- Manage Pittsburgh Playhouse's social media accounts, including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other digital platforms, creating engaging content and interacting with followers while recommending strategies based on performance.
- Edit photographs and videos into compelling promotional content, reels, stories, and behind-the-scenes features.
- Develop creative content that increases audience engagement, ticket sales, and brand awareness.
- Maintain an active content calendar while identifying real-time opportunities for audience engagement.
Graphic Design, Playbills & Marketing Content (35%)
- Manage timeline, creative development and production of playbills, including gathering materials (including: copy, biographies, headshots, production information, credits and other required materials) from artistic and production teams; organizing content; editing and proofreading copy; identifying missing information; coordinating revisions and approvals; and preparing final materials for production.
- Write, edit and adapt marketing copy for Playbills, social media, email, websites, signage, advertising and other audience communications.
- Design playbills, advertisements, signage, social graphics, email assets, web visuals, presentations and other print and digital materials; ensuring accuracy, consistency and brand alignment across audience-facing materials as well as paid and organic advertising
- Work with multiple departments and contributors while keeping projects on schedule.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager on campaign execution and visual direction of weekly email marketing and promotional campaigns.
- Maintain organized photography, video, graphic and digital asset libraries.
Multimedia Production (20%)
- Produce promotional videos, sizzle reels, digital advertisements, and commercials supporting Pittsburgh Playhouse and COPA programming.
- Create motion graphics, title cards, and digital assets for marketing campaigns.
- Record and edit radio commercials, promotional audio spots, and voice-over content.
- Support livestreams, interviews, artist features, and special video projects.
Event Coverage & Department Support (10%)
- Attend performances, rehearsals, media opportunities and special events to capture content and identify stories worth sharing.
- Collaborate with students, faculty, artists, guest companies and university partners on creative projects.
- Support special marketing initiatives, promotional events and audience engagement activities.
- Bring forward new ideas for how Pittsburgh Playhouse and COPA stories can be told across print, digital, social and multimedia platforms.
- Perform additional duties as needed in support of Pittsburgh Playhouse and University operations
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
