Are you our next Surface Maintenance Planner?

The Surface Maintenance Planner (Electrical) plays a vital role in maintaining the reliability, safety, and operational efficiency of electrical systems, substations, and equipment across the mill and surface infrastructure. This position is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, and technical oversight of a multidisciplinary maintenance team, which typically includes:

  • Electricians
  • Instrumentation Technicians
  • Plumbers
  • Carpenters

What You'll Do:

Maintenance Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for the power distribution systems and equipment.
  • Ensure availability of spare parts, tools, and labor for scheduled tasks. This may include sourcing, procuring and expediting materials outside of stock.
  • Liaise with warehouse and procurement teams to align inventory with maintenance needs.
  • Coordinate daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance plans to minimize downtime and support production goals

Shutdown Coordination

  • Plan and coordinate multi discipline tasks during planned outages or shutdowns.
  • Develop detailed schedules, labor requirements, and material plans to ensure efficient execution.

Work Order Management

  • Create, manage, and prioritize work orders using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). SAP
  • Ensure work orders include accurate job scopes, required materials, labor estimates, and safety procedures.

Technical Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including job histories, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Support root cause failure analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all planned work complies with electrical codes, safety standards, site-specific programs/procedures and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Promote safe work practices and participate in safety audits and inspections.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and safety improvement activities.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with electricians, instrumentation technicians, electrical engineer, carpenters, plumbers, supervisors, and operations teams to align maintenance activities with production schedules.
  • Provide guidance and support to technicians during execution of complex electrical tasks.

What You'll need:

  • 5+ years’ experience in industrial maintenance or a related field.
  • Journeyperson Electrician (Red Seal required), Electrical Engineer or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, SAP/S4HANA, and other relevant software tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proven leadership ability.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical distribution systems and equipment used in potash processing.
