Operations Manager

Skillsource are recruiting on behalf of a growing logistics and port services organisation operating within Rosslare Europort.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious operations professional looking to take the next step in their career and grow into a senior leadership role within a developing operation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily operational activities, managing operational teams and ensuring the safe and efficient handling of containers, cargo and vessel-related activities.

As the operation continues to expand, responsibilities may also grow to include vehicle and automotive logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day running of port and terminal operations.
• Lead, motivate and develop operational teams and supervisors.
• Coordinate vessel loading and discharge activities.
• Oversee container yard operations and container movements.
• Manage lashing and unlashing operations in line with safety and operational procedures.
• Ensure effective labour planning and deployment.
• Monitor operational performance, productivity and service levels.
• Maintain high standards of Health & Safety compliance.
• Liaise with customers, contractors, shipping operators and port stakeholders.
• Identify and implement operational improvements.
• Support the continued growth and development of the Rosslare operation.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience in Port Operations.
• Strong people management and team leadership experience.
• Experience working in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and operational deadlines.
• Experience within a port, terminal, shipping or container-handling environment would be a distinct advantage.
• Understanding of vessel operations, cargo handling, lashing or container management would be highly desirable.
