Description
The Concession Manager works with the Recreation Manager and other staff to develop, update, and implement Standard Operating Procedures for concessions program. Performs the scheduling of Concessions Workers and assists in coordinating Concessions events. Responsible for adequate ordering of food, supplies, and other necessary items for Parks and Recreation events. Works with staff to ensure staff, program, and facilities are following health code and City of Denison rules and regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Arrives early to assist staff in preparing concession to be open on or before event begins, as required
- Provides friendly, pleasant service to patrons, and assists in potentially difficult patron interactions with staff, or when requested to by a staff member or patron.
- Trains, guides, and monitors Concession staff in customer service, safety, sanitation, equipment operation, proper food handling, money handling, City CORE values, and any other area necessary for efficient, effective Concessions staff.
- Assists staff to accurately inventory supplies at open and close.
- Assists staff in taking orders and preparing/handling food and drink in a sanitary, compliant fashion.
- Accurately assists staff with processing payments and tendering change as needed and verifying that monies and supporting documents are well-accounted for and stored properly.
- Ensures concessions and storage facilities compliant and taking steps to bring into compliance if necessary, including maintenance of Concessions equipment and facilities. Reports necessary repairs to Recreation Manager
- Efficiently orders and stocks additional supplies as needed. Picks-up and/or arranges delivery of orders as needed.
- Assists management staff with remaining inside authorized Concessions and Mobile budgets.
- Assists staff with restocking, cleaning of equipment, sanitizing concession area, removing trash, and sweeping/mopping at the end of shift and whenever necessary.
- Adequately and efficiently schedules Concessions staff and facilities for events, including the re-scheduling and “covering” of shifts if necessary
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and organization rules/regulations applicable to scheduling and hours worked for part-time, full-time, contract, and volunteer labor.
- Accurately records time worked and assists in recording, verifying, and reporting staff time worked.
- Assists Recreation Manager with menu development; the streamlining of processes including ordering and customer payment options; development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures; and finding creative ways to run a cost effective, state-of-the-art, Concessions program.
- Performs all duties in a safe manner and in compliance with policies, procedures, work and safety rules and the employee handbook, and ensures staff does the same.
- Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.
- Motivate concession workers and discover training needs and provide coaching.
- Set clear team goals and monitor team performance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of customer service practices.
- Knowledge and skill in basic cash handling processes.
- Knowledge of food service
- Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedure development, or willingness to learn.
- Knowledge of federal, state, local, and organization employment laws and requirements, regarding scheduling of full-time, part-time, contract, and volunteer labor, or willingness to learn.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Ability to understand & follow oral and/or written instructions.
- Ability to give clear oral and/or written instructions.
- Ability to train, guide, and monitor staff in Concession job duties and CORE values.
- Ability to maintain consistent attendance.
- Ability to listen to THF Park visitors, empathize and display clear verbal communication.
- Must have a high school diploma/GED.
- Must be able to obtain a food manager and safety permit.
- Must have 1-year supervisory experience.
- Must be able to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to maintain composure, even in potentially tense interactions.
- Food service and handling experience preferred.
