Position Information: The full time Parts Counterperson & Driver’s first responsibility is customer satisfaction. Whether that be answering phones with polite and knowledgeable service, promptly delivering parts to local garages, or helping to keep the shelves stocked and presentable, the position’s responsibility is to ensure a fast, friendly, and professional customer experience.

Duties and Responsibilities for Parts Counterperson
- Maintain high ethical standards when dealing with customers, co-workers and vendors.
- Put safety first. Must adhere to all safety policies, procedures and personal protective equipment requirements and standards.
- Assist walk-in customers in selecting required parts, suggest companion requirements, offer specials, and ensure that the customer is exposed to the full product line.
- Pull purchased parts from stock.
- If the part is not in stock, determine availability and submit an emergency order if requested by the customer.
- Answer phone calls, providing price quotes and other information.
- Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
- Assist service technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs in process.
- Order parts not in stock if, after discussion with manager, it is determined that parts are needed and will be used upon receipt or that the customer will return for the required parts.
- Notify proper people when ordered parts have been received.

Duties and Responsibilities for full time Parts Driver:
- Maintain high ethical standards when dealing with customers, co-workers and vendors.
- Put safety first. Must adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements and standards.
- Deliver parts and equipment to customer and vendors.
- Pick up parts and equipment from customers and vendors, to be coordinated with the Parts Manager, Parts Sales Consultant, and Parts Counter people.
- Complete a log at the time of delivery and request recipient's signature.
- Unload truck at the end of shift. Turn in all paperwork and undelivered parts.
- Be responsible for the basic upkeep of the delivery vehicle: check oil with each fill-up and ensure vehicle is in good working order.
- Follow all Company safety policies and practices and immediately report any and all accidents to Manager and Human Resources.
- Responsible for keeping their immediate work area, as well as ensuring the entire facility is orderly, clean and free of trash and hazards.
- Pick up and return vehicles for service customers, as needed.
General:
- Be friendly, professional and efficient when working with all customers, both on the phone and in person.
- Issue credits for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice, or its number, is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified. Exceptions must be approved by the Parts Manager.
- Ensure that all charge sales are signed by the customers.
- Keep front and rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.
- Replenish assigned inventory daily.
- Advise Parts Manager when areas of the department are not in satisfactory condition.
- Keep current on new products and product updates.
- Participate in all training programs that are made available.
- Participate with the Parts Manager in maintaining a Lost Sale Tracking program.
- If the customers pay by invoice, obtain the following information: form of payment (if by check, include the check number), amount of payment, received by whom, date and any change given.
- Pulling and sorting parts for returns.
- Responsible for keeping the your immediately work area, as well as helping to ensure the entire facility is neat, clean and free of trash and hazards.
Requirements
Qualifications: High school diploma or the equivalent. Automotive Experience required. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Valid driver's license and a good driving record. Ability to use computer and calculator. Will be trained on parts department's computer inventory system. Ability to communicate well orally and in writing with customers, vendors, and other contacts. Maintain professional personal appearance.
Working Conditions:
Parts Driver - this is a physically demanding position. Will drive company-provided vehicle each shift. Will lift and transport parts weighting up to 50 plus pounds several times a day. Will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes and other hazardous and non hazardous materials.
Parts Counterperson - will spend up to eight hours per shift moving throughout the parts and service departments. Will climb ladders to get parts from shelves. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and feel. Will work closely with the service department and therefore will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials
