Infrastructure Specialist (DB)

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Database Specialist (Infrastructure & Server) to join the IT team. This role will play a pivotal part in ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and optimization of their database systems, while providing technical expertise on infrastructure components to support business-critical applications.

Responsibilities

• Manage, monitor, and maintain database platforms, including SQL Server and Oracle Databases, ensuring their performance, security, reliability, and availability.
• Conduct recovery tests and implement encryption for secure operations.
• Ensure the secure integration and deployment of databases in virtualized environments.
• Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with security standards. 
• Provide tier-2 and tier-3 technical support for database and infrastructure-related incidents.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to design and implement database-related infrastructure changes and projects.
• Support infrastructure projects and evaluate new technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related dsicpline.
• 3+ years of experience in DBA roles with hands-on expertise in SQL Server and/or Oracle Database administration.
• Proven knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware and/or Hyper-V.
• Strong experience administering Windows Server and/or Redhat Linux environments.
• Solid understanding of ITIL principles and experience implementing them in a professional environment.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to infrastructure troubleshooting and database optimization.
• Relevant certifications such as ITIL, Azure Database Administrator, Oracle DBA, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or RedHat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive, and fast-paced environment.
• Good command in both written and spoken in English and Chinese (Cantonese).
