What You Will Do: 

 

Guidehouse is seeking a Director, Chief of Staff to the CXO to serve as a trusted strategic operator and execution partner to the Chief Experience Officer. This role will help translate CXO priorities into action across Technology by driving leadership cadence, decision discipline, cross-functional coordination, executive communications, performance management, and follow-through on the organization's highest-priority initiatives. 

 

This role will serve as a force multiplier for the CXO, helping the organization rapidly assess priorities, frame choices, align leaders, and execute with clarity and accountability. The Director will operate at the intersection of strategy, technology, operations, talent, finance, and communications, serving as a confidential advisor and trusted partner to executive leadership and key stakeholders across the enterprise. 

 

The successful candidate will bring deep experience supporting senior executives, leading complex cross-functional initiatives, shaping operating rhythms, and turning strategy into measurable execution. This position requires a self-motivated, discreet, analytical, and collaborative leader with exceptional judgment, executive presence, writing ability, stakeholder management, facilitation, and follow-through. 

 

CXO Operating Cadence & Executive Priorities 

 

  • Run the CXO leadership operating cadence, including staff meetings, priority reviews, decision forums, executive briefings, and follow-up discipline. 

  • Maintain decision logs, action trackers, priority dashboards, and escalation paths that keep leadership aligned and accountable. 

  • Prepare agendas, materials, pre-reads, talking points, and post-meeting follow-ups that enable crisp executive decision-making. 

  • Translate CXO priorities and leadership discussions into clear actions, owners, milestones, and measurable outcomes. 

  • Anticipate organizational, stakeholder, talent, financial, and execution risks; surface issues early and drive resolution or escalation. 

 

Strategic Planning & Decision Support 

  • Partner with the CXO to define strategic priorities, operating goals, and leadership focus areas across the Technology organization. 

  • Frame strategic choices, trade-offs, dependencies, and recommendations in a way that enables timely executive decisions. 

  • Facilitate executive-level discussions to align leadership around strategic priorities, transformation objectives, operating decisions, and investment choices. 

  • Evaluate alternatives and develop business cases, options analyses, and decision materials supporting CXO priorities. 

  • Build frameworks that enable objective prioritization, sequencing, and resource allocation across competing priorities. 

Talent, Workforce & Leadership Enablement 

  • Partner closely with Human Resources and business leadership to assess workforce capabilities and future talent requirements. 

  • Develop workforce strategies aligned with CXO priorities, future-state business needs, and technology objectives. 

  • Identify skill gaps and workforce implications associated with modernization efforts. 

  • Support organizational design, workforce planning, change management, succession planning, and capability-building initiatives. 

  • Develop strategies for talent acquisition, reskilling, upskilling, and workforce enablement. 

 

Execution Roadmap & Accountability 

 

  • Develop CXO priority roadmaps aligned to strategic objectives, resource capacity, funding constraints, leadership decisions, and organizational readiness. 

  • Create prioritization frameworks based on value realization, CXO focus, complexity, risk, timing, and business impact. 

  • Define implementation phases, milestones, owners, dependencies, and measurable outcomes. 

  • Guide executive leadership through key transformation decisions and prioritization exercises. 

  • Develop executive presentations, leadership briefings, strategic recommendations, and investment proposals. 

 

Operating Rhythm, Metrics & Follow-Through 

 

  • Establish operating rhythm, governance structures, reporting processes, and program controls to support execution of CXO priorities. 

  • Develop performance tracking mechanisms, dashboards, scorecards, and KPI frameworks. 

  • Monitor progress, risks, decisions, and interdependencies across priority workstreams. 

  • Recommend adjustments to priorities, strategies, and roadmaps based on business performance, changing demands, leadership feedback, and execution risk. 

  • Ensure continuous alignment between CXO priorities, leadership actions, resource decisions, and strategic business objectives. 

 

Executive Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement 

 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and confidential thought partner to the CXO on strategy, execution, communications, and organizational effectiveness. 

  • Build strong relationships across Technology, HR, Recruiting, Operations, Finance, Communications, and Business leadership teams. 

  • Drive consensus, alignment, and action among diverse stakeholder groups with competing priorities. 

  • Facilitate strategic decision-making processes, executive workshops, leadership offsites, and priority reviews. 

  • Represent CXO priorities with discretion and professionalism; help leadership teams stay focused, prepared, and accountable. 

 

What You Will Need: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Technology, Information Systems, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Engineering, or related field. 

  • 12+ years of experience in chief of staff, strategy, transformation, operating model redesign, technology strategy, organizational change, or business modernization roles. 

  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives, building leadership operating cadences, and driving cross-functional execution. 

  • Proven success developing executive roadmaps, strategic plans, leadership materials, and implementation plans. 

  • Experience supporting executive-level decision-making processes in large, complex organizations. 

  • Strong knowledge of executive operations, organizational change management, workforce transformation, and technology modernization principles. 

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills. 

  • Outstanding verbal, written, presentation, and facilitation capabilities. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. 

  • Highly developed organizational, program management, executive communication, and follow-through skills. 

  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in fast-paced environments. 

  • Experience developing metrics, governance models, performance monitoring frameworks, and executive dashboards. 

  • Proficiency with strategic planning, reporting, presentation, and collaboration tools. 

  • Ability to travel as needed. 

  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and lead cross-functional teams. 

  • High-integrity professional with demonstrated leadership, accountability, and commitment to excellence. 

 

What Would Be Nice to Have: 

 

  • Master's degree in business administration (MBA), Organizational Development, Technology Management, Human Resources, or related discipline. 

  • Experience leading enterprise-wide technology and workforce transformation programs within professional services, consulting, or large corporate environments. 

  • Background serving in or supporting Chief of Staff, Strategy Office, Transformation Management Office (TMO), PMO, or Enterprise Transformation functions. 

  • Experience supporting cloud modernization, enterprise architecture, AI enablement, digital transformation, or technology operating model initiatives. 

  • Certifications such as PMP, Prosci Change Management, Agile, SAFe, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent transformation-focused credentials. 

  • Consulting experience advising executive leadership on large-scale organizational transformation initiatives. 

  • Experience designing workforce planning and talent strategy frameworks to support organizational modernization efforts. 

The annual salary range for this position is $226,000.00-$376,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
