Position Summary
The Material Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely receiving, staging, and internal transport of bar stock, as well as loading and unloading inbound and outbound skids for shipping. This role supports the Logistics and Production teams by receiving and staging incoming bar stock, maintaining accurate raw stock inventory records in JobBOSS, delivering bar stock to production, and ensuring that material handling activities meet Lakeview Precision's quality, safety, and traceability standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and comfortable operating a forklift and boom in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receiving and Unloading: Safely receive, unload, and inspect incoming bar stock shipments from trucks using a forklift or boom; verify shipments against packing slips, purchase orders, and material certifications (heat numbers/mill certs) before accepting. Load and unload inbound and outbound skids for shipping.
- Material Transport: Safely transport and relocate bar stock between receiving, staging, and machine centers; load and unload inbound and outbound skids for shipping.
- Inventory Management: Organize and monitor raw stock inventory; label and store stock with the material tag (job number, PO number, and any other details needed to identify the material) for full traceability; perform physical and cycle counts of raw stock; maintain accurate raw stock quantities and locations in JobBOSS; report shortages, overages, or discrepancies to the Logistics Lead or Purchasing.
- Order Fulfillment and Kitting: Pick, stage, and deliver bar stock to production per job travelers, routers, and work order priority.
- Equipment Operation: Operate the forklift and boom safely and in compliance with training and certification requirements; complete and document daily pre-operation equipment inspections; report equipment issues or needed maintenance promptly.
- Receiving Inspection and Quality Control: Verify the accuracy, condition, and quality of incoming and outgoing deliveries, including checking material certifications and heat numbers against purchase order requirements; follow Lakeview Precision's material receiving procedure; segregate and tag nonconforming or damaged material and notify Quality Control.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, complete records of material receipts, transfers, issues, and inventory movements in JobBOSS; complete shipping and receiving paperwork, including documentation required for ITAR-controlled materials and customer traceability requirements.
