As Legal Counsel for GE Vernova Power's South Asia team, you will be the trusted legal partner for some of the region's most significant power generation transactions and projects. From structuring complex commercial agreements to navigating disputes across Gas Power, Hydro, and Steam Power businesses, your work will directly shape how GE Vernova delivers on its commitments to customers and communities across South Asia.This is a individual contributor role with broad scope, high autonomy, and real strategic influence.
Job Description
What You'll Do
Serve as the primary legal advisor for a defined portfolio of South Asia customers and business teams, providing strategic counsel across commercial, contractual, and compliance matters
Draft, structure, and negotiate complex commercial agreements — including new equipment sales, long- and short-term services, software, and digital contracts — for gas turbine, hydro turbine, and steam turbine businesses
Advise Operations, Sales, Engineering, and Finance teams on contract performance, regulatory matters, and risk management, including compliance with applicable South Asia regulations
Lead dispute resolution activity — including mediations, arbitrations, and litigation — and manage outside counsel engagements
Develop processes and best practices for new commercial models and offerings, and deliver training to business teams on contract risk, competition law, and dispute resolution
Collaborate with GE Vernova's global legal network, including Compliance, Intellectual Property (IP), Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Antitrust, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), and Corporate Governance teams
Who You Are
You are a commercially minded lawyer who thrives in complex, fast-moving environments — someone who brings legal rigor and business judgment in equal measure, and who earns trust by making the complicated feel manageable.
Required
Law degree from an accredited law school, with active bar membership or equivalent qualification to practice in South Asia
Significant experience in private practice or in-house legal work, with a focus on commercial transactions, contract negotiation, and/or business litigation
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously across cross-functional teams
Preferred
Experience with construction, Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC), or equipment services contracts
Background in the energy or power generation industry
Familiarity with international arbitration and multi-jurisdictional regulatory environments in South Asia
Able to work independently and leverage the support of others in a fast-paced, matrixed business environment.
