Description

The Deposit Operations Team Leader is responsible for effectively assisting the Leadership Team in providing coaching and guidance to the Deposit Operations team. This position is responsible for ensuring the team has the support and resources they need to effectively perform core department functions that will meet the needs of our members and staff and is responsible for reviewing and developing products and services and makes recommendations for changes and improvements to the Deposit Operations Manager and Director. This role provides assistance with special projects as needed while maintaining professional vendor relationships with SmartSource/Kaye Smith, Harland, Symitar and all other Deposit Operations vendors.  You will maintain leadership routines and provide coaching, dialogues, recognition, disciplinary action when necessary and performance evaluations in support of department and credit union goals. Ensuring staff development through creation and monitoring of individual development plans.  Ready to learn more? 

Your day might include:

  • Demonstrating a passion for delivering outstanding service and support through responsive and positive interactions with co-workers, members, vendors and outside parties through various communication channels (Phone, Email, Chat, SharePoint)
  • Actively building relationships with coworkers to foster a collaborative working environment while responding favorably to departmental and organizational change
  • Providing effective guidance to both leaders and staff, with diplomacy and tact to resolve potentially complex account issues, threats and risks impacting members and/or staff  
  • Ensuring accuracy in responding to requests while supporting ongoing efforts to empower creative options to address member and business needs, while exercising sound judgement in decision making
  • Responsible for timely and effective leadership routines to include coaching, dialogues, service meetings, and performance evaluations
  • Providing consistent and meaningful feedback and routinely providing recognition and support of staff efforts. Incorporating creative and effective solutions for motivating employees
  • Delegating effectively to ensure optimal use of resources. Ensuring staffing levels are sufficient to effectively maintain department operations and workflow
  • Documenting employee performance and attendance while holding staff accountable to meeting department and operational standards
  • Partnering with department leadership to effectively coordinate daily operations of all Deposit Operations functions
  • Overseeing all aspects of Escheatment, IRAs, New Accounts (to include Business Accounts) Death Claims, Trust and Estate Accounts
  • Validating that all GLs are balanced and accurate without undocumented outstanding items and performs Quarterly reporting requirements on time
  • Managing all aspects and responsibilities regarding tax reporting. Ensuring timely tax reporting standards and requirements are met. Responsible for updates to member rates in Symitar, rate and fee and account opening disclosure documents
  • Participating and leading operational projects to support process and digital improvements. Actively supporting leadership and project management on project teams and credit union committees to support organizational objectives. This may include participation in testing and employee pilots
  • Actively working to identify opportunities for process improvement or efficiency in department operations and works with leadership to support implementation efforts

What you bring to the team:

  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a credit union or financial institution environment with exposure to deposit operations
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ leadership experience
  • Knowledge of specialized account services, including IRAs, Estate and Trust Accounts, and W-8BEN reporting
  • Knowledge of Unclaimed Property Processing and reporting for Financial Institutions, with primary focus on Washington State Unclaimed Property laws
  • Well-developed interpersonal, written and telephone communication skills
  • Ability to communicate information with emotional people in a positive and diplomatic manner and Ability to analyze information and form recommendations
  • Ability to work independently with highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Analytical decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Handling escalated and emotionally charged calls
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with a strong aptitude for learning and leveraging new technology systems

Bonus points if you have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration or a closely related field
  • Experience with the Symitar core system
  • Technical writing and documentation
  • Data analysis
  • Dashboard creation and reporting
  • General ledger account reconciliation
  • Knowledge of and experience working within the following systems: Grooper, Application Extender, Centrix, Microsoft SQL, eFunds, Jack Henry, SharePoint, Tableau, Fresh Service

Competitive pay: $30.47 - $45.70 per hour, dependent on relevant qualifications, plus an annual discretionary incentive plan and benefits package

  • The target starting pay for this position is $30.47 - $38.08 per hour, typically within the first half of the range. Actual offers will be based on individual qualifications relevant to the role and will not take an applicant’s pay history into account when making offers.
  • The range above allows our employees room for growth through annual merit and other pay increase during their tenure in the position.
     

Where we’re located: 330 Union Ave, Olympia WA. Employee must reside and perform all work in the state of Washington. This is a hybrid position that blends working in-office and from home. Works onsite minimum of two (2) occasions per week.

When you’d work: Monday - Friday, between the hours of 7:00 am - 6:00. Full Time minimum 40 Hours per week with scheduling flexibility to meet service needs for this non-exempt position
