The Director of Clinical Education is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and operational management of enterprise-wide clinical education and professional development initiatives. This leader oversees the infrastructure, processes, budgets, content governance, and logistics that support the delivery of high-quality clinical learning programs across the organization.The Director serves as a key partner to clinical leadership, operational leaders, and subject matter experts to ensure clinical education programs are scalable, effective, fiscally responsible, and aligned with organizational goals. This role combines program management, budget oversight, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership to drive consistent and impactful learning experiences that support clinical quality, compliance, workforce development, and patient outcomes.

Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Excellence Program Leadership
Lead the operational strategy and execution of the organization's Clinical Excellence and clinical education programs.
Develop and maintain an annual clinical training roadmap aligned with business priorities and workforce development needs.
Establish standards, processes, and governance for training program delivery across multiple regions, specialties, and clinical functions.
Partner with executive and clinical leaders to identify educational priorities and support organizational initiatives.
Training & Learning Operations
Oversee the planning, scheduling, and delivery of clinical education curriculum and training programs, workshops, symposiums, leadership development programs, and continuing education events.
Ensure a consistent and high-quality learner experience across virtual, in-person, and hybrid programs.
Drive improvements in learning operations, training effectiveness, and program scalability.
Monitor participation, completion rates, learner feedback, and educational outcomes.
Obtain all required state approvals and accreditation required for courses to deliver continuing education hours for participating clinicians.
Content & Curriculum Management
Provide oversight of training content development, maintenance, and distribution.
Source, coordinate, and develop clinical experts within and outside the organization to develop and host courses and other educational programming.
Establish content governance processes to ensure educational materials are of the highest quality, and remain current, evidence-based, compliant, and aligned with organizational standards.
Collaborate with clinical experts, educators, and operational leaders to support curriculum development and program enhancement.
Oversee learning management systems and educational content repositories.
Develop new employee educational programming to lay a foundation for professional growth, clinical excellence, and optimal patient experience.
Create educational programming designed to provide convenient, cost-effective, and high-quality content focused on clinical skills acquisition, clinical specialization, and the creation of clinical experts through clinical certification and credentialing programs.
Financial Management & Budget Oversight
Develop and manage the Clinical Excellence department budget, including educational programs, vendors, conferences, technology, and training resources.
Monitor expenditures and ensure effective allocation of resources to support organizational objectives.
Prepare budget forecasts, variance analyses, and executive-level financial reports.
Evaluate vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining program quality.
Event & Logistics Strategy
Oversee all logistical aspects of major clinical education events and training initiatives.
Provide strategic direction for meeting planning, venue selection, technology platforms, travel coordination, and resource management.
Ensure operational excellence and risk mitigation throughout the execution of educational programs.
Develop scalable processes to support growth and evolving organizational needs.
Data Analytics & Performance Reporting
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to measure program effectiveness and operational efficiency.
Analyze training utilization, budget performance, learner engagement, and educational outcomes.
Present insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
Utilize data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and enhanced workforce development.
Team Leadership & Development
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and service excellence.
Establish clear performance expectations and support professional growth within the organization.
Drive operational excellence and continuous process improvement.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Serve as a strategic partner to Operations and other Support Services departments.
Support enterprise initiatives requiring clinical education, change management, onboarding, and workforce development.
Promote alignment between clinical education activities and organizational objectives.
Director of Clinical Excellence Focus
Proactively provides clinical excellence through assessment, analysis, and strategic planning including evidence-based practice, best practice guidelines, tools, and resources to enhance care delivery
Completes a root cause analysis in focus center(s), regions, territories, or individual clinician(s) to provide clinical excellence by following clinical practice standards and regulatory compliance.
Works to achieve the company’s key performance indicators through clinical excellence initiatives
Regularly reviews metrics to ensure performance targets are met
Identifies educational needs of individual centers, regions, territories, and the larger organization to promote clinical growth
Supports documentation excellence through periodic reviews, action planning, and education
Participates in any quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives as directed by leadership
Actively drives the “Ivy Commitment to Clinical Excellence” within all aspects of the organization
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree in a related clinical field required.
Experience
7–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare education, clinical operations, learning and development, workforce development, or program management.
Experience managing complex training programs and operational budgets.
Experience leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide initiatives.
Healthcare industry experience required.
