Description
- Lead the comprehensive review of solid waste management documents, including existing planning standards, population projections, demand forecasts, design criteria and unit costs
- Assess current access to solid waste management services among target project area populations;
- Analyze the current state of solid waste management in project areas.
- Based on urban development scenarios prepared by the team, prepare short, medium and long-term projections for SWM service demands in project areas;
- Identify needed physical improvements to SWM infrastructure and non-physical interventions to improve operational capacity of identified institutions to deliver services, based on agreed urban development scenarios. The assessment should cover the full service chain including management at source, collections, disposal and recycling;
- Work with NGO and international individual resettlement specialist to develop alternative livelihood options for waste pickers currently working at existing dumpsites
- Carry out technical due diligence of all identified SWM sector components for feasibility, utility, relevance, criticality, impact, and operational sustainability. The due diligence should include a technical options analysis to ensure that the most technically feasible, cost-effective, socially acceptable, resilient/low-energy and operationally sustainable options are selected.
- Prepare preliminary engineering designs and cost estimates for priority SWM investments.
