Raytheon’s software development team in San Diego, California, is growing! We are seeking a talented and motivated Principal Software Engineer to work onsite.

What You Will Do:

• Lead a Software Team of 10+ engineers, both on-site and remote
• Design, develop and integrate distributed microservices and containerized components supporting early deployable capabilities for next generation C2 architectures
• Perform and lead integration, testing and performance analysis in lab environments
• Document designs, APIs, test results and key engineering decisions
• Drive agile planning, technical reviews and cross team design discussions
• Maintain Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US-only systems.
• Work onsite at San Diego, CA facility

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

• Experience in Software Development and Deployment, including analysis, design, integration, automated testing, continuous integration and deployment.

• Experience with Java, containerized deployments (including Docker and Kubernetes), DevSecOps and Gitlab.

• Experience working in a team-focused development environment, such as Agile/SCRUM.

• Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Strong background in distributed systems, real‑time or near‑real‑time processing, or autonomous system software
• Experience with Java, Python, GoLang, and/or container‑oriented development (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Understanding of networking, messaging frameworks, or middleware used in distributed command‑and‑control systems.
• Exposure to model‑based engineering, simulation environments, or digital‑engineering tools.
• Experience working on IRAD, early R&D prototypes, or technology maturation efforts.
• Experience working on Combat Systems solutions.

• Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 118,300 USD - 224,900 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
