We are so excited to invite you to join Indigenous Pathways—a unique, paid, full-time, 9-month journey designed specifically to celebrate and support First Nations, Inuit, and Metis individuals as they grow their skills and launch meaningful careers in media here at CBC.

As part of our all-Indigenous cohort, you won't just be working; you'll be growing within a community that offers comprehensive training, dedicated career support, and hands-on experience. Whether you're just starting out or looking for a new direction, please know that no prior journalism or media education is needed to apply. We are looking for your potential and your voice! The program runs from October 2026 to June 2027.

This year, we are looking for a new teammate to join our CBC Sports Digital family in Toronto. This role follows a hybrid model, which means you'll spend at least two days a week in the office collaborating in person. While we cannot cover relocation costs, we are eager to welcome someone ready to make their mark in the city.

We'd Love to Meet You If You:

  • Your Identity & Community: You identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis and feel a strong connection to your community, with a deep desire to help share its stories.

  • Passion for Storytelling & Sports: You are a sports enthusiast who is curious about the art of storytelling—whether through writing, research, or technical production.

  • A Collaborative & Creative Mindset: You value teamwork, lead with integrity, and approach challenges with a positive, "can-do" attitude and creative solutions.

  • Eagerness to Learn: You are open to new perspectives and ready to dive in, picking up new technical and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced environment.

Bonus Skills We Value (But aren't required!):

  • If you have basic Adobe Premiere Pro editing skills, that's wonderful.

  • Any previous training or courses in radio or TV production are great assets.

  • Being bilingual (English/French) is a fantastic addition to our team.

Your Journey with Us:

Empowering Your Growth

  • Unlock and sharpen the tools you need for a long, successful media career.

  • Discover new ways to tell stories using words, visuals, and sound.

  • Bring to life stories that truly matter to Indigenous audiences and celebrate our diverse cultures.

  • Find support and friendship through mentors, trainers, and peers who are rooting for your success.

  • Gain confidence and professional experience in a vibrant, creative atmosphere.

Creating Together

  • Partner with our Producers to build written and video stories that connect with and inspire our audience.

  • Show us your perspective and judgment in a space where it is safe to try new things and learn from them.

  • Spark new ideas for articles and social media, ensuring every story is told with care and accuracy.

  • Build bridges with external partners and help our stories reach further through impactful social media.

Hands-On Experience

  • Learn the art of packaging content for the world to see, while assisting in editing and directing projects.

Why You'll Love Growing With Us:

At CBC Sports Digital, we believe your voice is essential. You'll be part of a creative family where your ideas are cherished, and your growth is our priority. We offer:

  • A management team that truly cares about your well-being.

  • Constant opportunities to learn something new and level up your skills.

  • Guidance and mentorship from some of the best in the industry.

  • A culture that is innovative, inclusive, and feels like home.

  • Flexibility and hybrid options because we know your life outside of work is important, too.

How to Apply

To apply, please submit your resume and a cover letter that shares your story by answering these three questions:

What draws you to the Indigenous Pathways program?

What sparked your interest in a career in media?

What are some of the hobbies, volunteer commitments, or cultural activities that you are passionate about?

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the next

step will be asked to complete a background check. This includes:

  • A mandatory Criminal record check.

  • Other background checks may be conducted based on the operational requirements of the position.
