The University seeks a high-caliber seasoned professional to assume the role of Safety Manager, supporting both the Campus Development Office (CDO) and the Campus Management Office (CMO) in maintaining the highest standards in health and safety for all aspects of campus maintenance, cleaning, security, landscaping, refurbishment, and new construction projects, while also managing and mitigating operational risks to enhance efficiency and project effectiveness.
Reporting to the Senior Manager (Safety and Risk Management), the appointee will be responsible for the following:
- Assisting the Directors of the CDO & CMO, and Senior Manager (Safety and Risk Management) in CDO in leading departmental teams to uphold safety and comply with all necessary legal and regulatory requirements.
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures concerning safety and health, aligning with established best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluating and overseeing safety and health performance throughout all CDO & CMO operations, encompassing both internal and outsourced functions.
- Promoting awareness and sensitivity of the industrial safety and health standards to the management and staff of CMO and CDO.
- Fostering a safety culture within the organization and ensuring compliance with all safety standards and protocols within the CDO and CMO.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align CDO and CMO safety and health functions with departmental responsibilities and university development goals.
Applicants should possess a bachelor's degree, preferably with a master's degree, register as Safety Officer under the Labour Department, be a corporate member of a recognized professional institute in a relevant discipline and have at least seven years of relevant experience in maintenance and construction safety or related fields. They should also possess the following:
- Proven experience in managing professionals, consultants and contractors; managing safety and health;
- A track record of maintaining high safety standards in maintenance and project operations in an effective and systematic way;
- Good leadership, analytical mindset, and problem-solving skills, and the willingness to drive changes in a complex environment; and
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English as well as strong presentation skills.
(Duration: 2 years)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
