Description
B2B Content Writer
smartdept. is searching for a highly skilled B2B content writer who knows how to write for the commercial design world. Our client is a commercial lighting manufacturer with a busy product launch calendar, and they're adding a second go-to writer to their team.
This is an ongoing, long-term contract for someone who can become a true extension of the team. You'll take technical product details and turn them into refined, polished messaging for architects, lighting designers, interior designers, and electrical engineers.
What You'll Do
- Write product launch content, including product descriptions, positioning, and messaging
- Create press releases, agent and sales rep emails, and website and landing page copy
- Write blog posts, long-form industry content, and video scripts
- Turn technical specs into clear, benefit-driven messaging that speaks to specifiers
- Work closely with marketing, product, and engineering to gather details and get them right
- Keep messaging consistent across channels and aligned with the brand voice
- Support several product launches through the end of the year, with more planned for 2027
What You'll Need
- 3+ years of B2B copywriting experience, ideally in commercial lighting, architectural products, furniture, or building materials
- Experience writing for the A&D community (architects, interior designers, lighting designers, engineers). Commercial experience is a must, residential alone won't be a fit
- A high level of written refinement. Your first drafts should be clean, organized, and close to final
- Comfort with technical information and the ability to make it clear and compelling
- A proactive approach. You ask questions early, clarify the brief, and don't assume
- Strong attention to detail with formatting and consistency across deliverables
- Ability to ramp up quickly and handle a fluctuating, launch-driven workload
Nice to Have
- Experience with specification-driven products and spec sheets
- Familiarity with industry events and audiences like NeoCon or LightFair
- Background writing for design-focused manufacturers or brands
