Overview

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for directing and administering all housekeeping operations to ensure the overall cleanliness, product quality, and aesthetic appeal of the facility. This role drives continuous efforts to deliver outstanding guest service and operational profitability.

 

Key responsibilities include supervising housekeeping employees, planning and assigning daily tasks, training newly recruited personnel, conducting thorough quality audits, inspecting completed work, and requisitioning supplies. The Housekeeping Manager oversees department budgeting and financial controls, while actively managing recruitment, staff scheduling, counseling, and performance evaluations.

 

As a representative of HCSG, the candidate must project a positive, professional image, demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, and foster collaborative working relationships with team members, management, guests, and client leadership.

Pay Rate

USD $50,000.00 - USD $60,000.00 /Yr.

Responsibilities

• Participate in daily morning meetings to align team expectations, discuss priorities, and resolve operational issues.
• Conduct daily property walks, including documented inspections of guest rooms and public areas; submit report results to the Assistant General Manager or General Manager.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, orderliness, and visual appearance throughout the entire property.
• Track room occupancy records and assign daily cleaning assignments to personnel accordingly.
• Promptly address and resolve guest complaints regarding housekeeping service or equipment.
• Assist with preventive cleaning programs, report special guest requests, and coordinate room redecoration or renovation needs.
• Deliver comprehensive training to all housekeeping personnel on required duties to satisfy brand and company standards and safety standards.
• Observe team adherence to company policies and procedures; actively participate in the employee evaluation and disciplinary process.
• May perform direct cleaning duties as necessary to support team goals or manage operational demand.
• Review operating statements, provide explanations or corrective action plans for variance or unusual overages/shortages, and meet budgeted goals.
• Prepare budget documentation and actively participate in the annual department budgeting process.
• Maintain appropriate par stocks of guest supplies, cleaning chemicals, linens, and uniforms; prepare requisitions for supplies, furniture renovation, or replacements.
• Ensure strict adhere to all department and hotel key control security protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in housekeeping or environmental services required.
• Strong attendance record and ability to consistently arrive on time following all time reporting guidelines.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
• Personal cleanliness and professional presentation.
• Pleasant, tactful, courteous, and cooperative manner with guests, clients, and co-workers.
• Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision after completion of the initial training period.
• Solid understanding of environmental services requirements, equipment usage, and basic infection control protocols.
• Ability to handle, mix, and utilize cleaning chemicals safely and properly.
• Strong written (preferred) and oral (required) communication skills to interact effectively with team members, supervisors, and guests.
• Excellent interpersonal and client service skills with a commitment to high-quality service.
• Basic math skills for budget and inventory tracking; strong organizational ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Proven ability to exercise independent judgment while working effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, reach overhead, twist, as well as lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly.
