Billing Specialist

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is hiring a Senior Billing Specialist in Alexandria, VA. Qualified candidates must be U.S. citizens. Responsibilities: • Manages program and project implementation and makes significant contributions to department goals and planning efforts.  • Knows when to escalate problems/questions to a higher level and work with internal and external customers. • Provide “Cradle to Grave” billing and invoicing processes.  • Prepare complex invoices for various types of government contracts within MTSI's corporate Accounting department using various tools such as; (Cost Plus, Cost Plus Fixed fee, Firm Fixed Price, T&M, etc.). • Communicate with Program Managers and Project Controllers to create monthly invoices for multiple contract types.   • Take accountability for the quality and timely delivery of all agreed-upon deliverables. • Maintain direct correspondence with PMs and other POCs regarding assigned project costs for billing purposes. • Reconcile billings and unbilled amounts monthly. • Assist with collection activity and resolution of outstanding invoices from past due accounts. • Interface with internal and external customers and work closely with the Contracts and Accounting personnel. • Support various aspects of the monthly financial reporting to include analysis open billing details. • Additional duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned at any time. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in related field • 7+ years of experience with government contract invoicing and applying FAR/AS regulations • Requires in-depth knowledge, expertise, and experience; proficiency in Excel and Word and extensive knowledge of CostPoint billing 8.1 and cost modules; Understand FAR, CAS and GAAP. • Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends solutions / best practices; continually seeks updated knowledge on issues impacting current programs/projects/processes. • Experience submitting invoices on customer systems such as WAWF. • Routinely interface with other senior-level leaders and teammates; always demonstrating outstanding poise and strong cross-functional teamwork. • Is accommodating to both positive and negative customer feedback. • As available/needed: represent MTSI at conferences, workshops, or symposiums by chairing a session, participating in a panel discussion, or presenting a paper. Travel Requirements: • This position offers the opportunity to work remotely, however, some travel may be required to attend quarterly meetings with teams. Physical Requirements: • Frequent sitting for long periods using computer keyboard, zoom conferencing, Microsoft teams, telephone etc. • Keyboarding: Entering text or data into a computer or other machine by means of a traditional keyboard (traditional keyboard refers to a panel of keys used as the primary input device on a computer, typographic machine or 10-key numeric keypad). Please note: Candidate must be able to successfully pass a credit check and criminal background investigation. The pay range for this position is $80,000 to $120,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors.
