Sargent Electric is a leading specialty contractor focused on electrical, instrumentation, wireless, utility, and low voltage systems. Founded in Pittsburgh in 1907, we operate from 8 locations across the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, delivering projects nationwide for our strategic customers.

We support the breadth of client needs, from routine 24/7 service and emergency restoration to their largest and most complex projects. Our proven safety record, technical depth, and longstanding client relationships have made us a partner of choice for Fortune 500 companies, leading general contractors, and EPC contractors.

We are seeking to hire a Construction Scheduler - Mission Critical - in our Pittsburgh, PA office.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
This full-time role supports the Mission Critical business unit by developing, maintaining, and managing detailed schedules for large-scale electrical construction projects from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover. The work location may be a project site or Mission Critical office, with local travel to project sites.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Manage Project Schedules. Develop and maintain logic-driven schedules from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover
  • Develop Primavera P6 Schedules. Maintain baselines, updates, activity logic, durations, milestones, constraints, critical path, and physical percent complete in Primavera P6.
  • Drive Field-Based Updates. Work with project managers, superintendents, general foremen, and field teams so updates reflect actual conditions, installed progress, productivity, materials, access, and constraints.
  • Integrate Electrical Scope. Schedule underground, grounding, raceway, cable tray, equipment setting, busway, cable installation, terminations, controls, testing, energization, commissioning, and turnover activities.
  • Integrate Procurement and Prefabrication. Incorporate engineering releases, submittals, approvals, procurement, fabrication, long-lead deliveries, BIM coordination, clash detection, detailing, and material release activities.
  • Analyze Critical Path and Risk. Identify critical and near-critical activities, sequencing conflicts, constraints, and emerging risks and support mitigation and recovery plans.
  • Report Schedule Performance. Prepare critical-path analysis, baseline-versus-actual reporting, milestone tracking, variance analysis, look-aheads, and recovery schedules.
  • Support Look-Ahead Planning. Translate the overall schedule into executable near-term plans aligned with manpower, materials, equipment, access, predecessor work, and field priorities.
  • Coordinate with the General Contractor. Reconcile the electrical construction schedule with the general contractor master schedule and other trade schedules.
  • Plan Commissioning and Turnover. Integrate testing, energization, startup support, commissioning, punch list, documentation, and phased turnover milestones.
  • Communicate and Improve. Clearly communicate schedule status, risks, priorities, and required actions and help establish consistent Mission Critical scheduling standards and best practices.
  • Champion Safety Culture. Lead by example in upholding safety standards and support best practices across field and office environments.
  • Crave Learning. Grow through hands-on experience, training, and mentorship and actively engage in available development opportunities.
  • Additional Responsibilities. Assume additional duties and responsibilities as delegated by Sargent Executive Management.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, or a related discipline; candidates with two or more years of relevant construction scheduling experience may receive equivalent consideration in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain detailed construction schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Ability to translate complex schedule information into clear, actionable information for project stakeholders.
  • Experience with construction management applications such as BuildingConnected, Vista, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Procore, ProjectSite, Primavera P6, and related applications preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction sequencing in a multi-trade environment preferred
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, computer, multitasking, and time-management skills.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • At least 2 years of construction scheduling, project controls, or construction management experience supporting electrical, mission critical, data center, industrial, or other complex construction projects.
  • Experience scheduling large-scale electrical construction, data center, mission critical, industrial, or similarly complex projects preferred.
WHY JOIN SARGENT ELECTRIC?
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Established, growing company with a strong industry reputation
  • Collaborative, team-driven environment
  • Opportunity to directly impact project success and cost efficiency

EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:
Sargent Electric Company is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all qualified individuals in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
