The role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Configuration Management Analyst to provide technical leadership and Configuration Management expertise across a portfolio of complex Defence programs.

This is a senior specialist (Subject Matter Expert) role for a confident and influential CM professional who thrives in complex engineering environments and can operate independently while partnering with project, engineering and business leaders. Acting as a trusted advisor and deputy to the Configuration Management Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in establishing robust governance, driving CM best practice and ensuring the integrity of project and product baselines throughout the lifecycle.

The Opportunity

You will lead Configuration Management activities across multiple programs, championing disciplined baseline management, change control and configuration governance while supporting the successful delivery of nationally significant Defence capability.

As a recognised subject matter expert, you will influence stakeholders across all levels of the organisation, strengthen Configuration Management maturity, and help embed scalable, fit-for-purpose processes that support business growth and project success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Configuration Management frameworks across complex projects and product lines.
  • Provide expert guidance on baseline management, change control, configuration audits and status accounting.
  • Partner with Project Managers and Engineering Managers to establish, maintain and govern project baselines.
  • Chair and facilitate Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) and Engineering Review Boards (ERBs).
  • Drive adoption of Configuration Management principles, processes and governance across the organisation.
  • Conduct configuration audits and assurance activities to ensure compliance with Defence, contractual and business requirements.
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of IFS Applications and engineering data management practices.
  • Mentor stakeholders and project teams while acting as a trusted Configuration Management authority.

About you

You are a seasoned Configuration Management professional with a track record of successfully implementing CM frameworks within Defence, engineering or other highly regulated environments.

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Extensive Configuration Management experience across complex engineering programs.
  • Ability to independently author, implement and maintain Configuration Management and Data Management plans, providing governance and guidance across the project lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of baseline management, change management, configuration audits and governance frameworks.
  • Experience working within Defence environments and a sound understanding of ASDEFCON requirements.
  • The ability to influence, educate and build credibility with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.
  • Experience with PLM, engineering data management and enterprise business systems.
  • Exposure to IFS Applications or similar ERP/PLM platforms will be highly regarded.
  • Industry-recognised Configuration Management qualifications or equivalent professional experience.

Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to baseline/NV1/NV2 level. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.
