Description
Who we are 🌍
We’re IAG Loyalty - one organisation with two ambitious, growing divisions across Loyalty and Holidays. Each has its own goals, strategy and team, but together we’re united by a shared vision to create a more rewarding world of travel and experiences.
Our Loyalty division is home to Avios, the global loyalty currency, enabling millions of members to collect and spend rewards across travel, retail and financial services.
Our Holidays division including British Airways Holidays and Iberia Vacaciones, brings together trusted brands, connecting customers to thousands of destinations worldwide through seamless, end-to-end travel experiences.
We’re on an exciting journey of growth and transformation – we’re going places.
The opportunity ✨
We’re looking for a Group Finance Controls Analyst to help strengthen and evolve how financial controls operate across IAG Loyalty.
Working within our Group Reporting & Controls team, you’ll combine your understanding of financial controls with data, systems and technology to help us move towards smarter, more proactive ways of working. Rather than relying on manual checks to identify issues after they happen, you’ll explore how we can use data and technology to spot risks earlier, improve accuracy and prevent problems before they occur.
You’ll work with SAP and other Finance data to identify trends, investigate exceptions and understand where processes and controls could be improved. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore how automation, analytics and AI could make our financial controls more efficient, reliable and effective.
Working closely with colleagues across Finance and the wider business, you’ll help shape practical improvements to our systems, processes and reporting, making a real difference to how we manage financial risk and maintain confidence in our financial information.
It’s a great opportunity for someone with a strong Finance or financial controls background who enjoys getting into the detail, challenging existing ways of working and exploring how technology can make things better.
What you’ll be doing 🚀
- Help strengthen and continuously improve our Group financial control framework, identifying opportunities to move from manual checks towards more automated and preventative controls.
- Develop a strong understanding of our SAP Finance environment, exploring how existing system functionality and automation can improve controls, data quality and processes.
- Analyse SAP and other financial data to identify trends, exceptions and emerging risks, helping us understand where improvements are needed.
- Build and improve Finance datasets, dashboards and monitoring processes that provide greater visibility of financial controls and make reporting more efficient.
- Explore, test and help implement opportunities to use automation, analytics and AI to improve how financial risks are identified and managed.
- Investigate recurring control issues and data discrepancies, identifying root causes and recommending practical solutions through systems, processes or automation.
- Work with Finance and Technology colleagues to ensure financial control and reporting requirements are considered when implementing or changing systems.
- Support Group financial control policies, standards and governance, alongside wider Finance initiatives and projects.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Finance and the business, translating data and control insights into clear recommendations and improvements.
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual work and strengthen the accuracy and reliability of financial information.
What we need from you ⚡
- Experience working within Finance, financial controls, audit or a similar environment, with a good understanding of financial control principles.
- A solid understanding of financial accounting processes, including journals, reconciliations and balance sheet controls.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with financial data, identify trends, investigate discrepancies and recommend improvements.
- Experience using SAP or another ERP system, with an interest in understanding how Finance systems can improve controls and data quality.
- A genuine interest in technology, automation and AI, with the curiosity to explore how these can solve real Finance challenges.
- A proactive and improvement-focused mindset, with the confidence to question existing processes and look for better ways of working.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify risks, understand root causes and maintain high standards of accuracy.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across Finance and other business areas.
- A willingness to learn and develop new technical skills, particularly in data analysis, reporting and automation.
A part-qualified or newly qualified accounting qualification would be beneficial, as would experience using Power BI, data visualisation or automation tools, but these aren't essential.
We might not be right for you if:
- You only want to focus on your to-do list; we’re a small, high-performing team, we help each other to succeed.
- You value perfection over fast iteration and progress; IAG Loyalty moves fast, we learn and iterate as we go; our environment isn’t right for everyone.
- You’re looking to create but not build; this is an end-to-end role, you need to be comfortable owning your space, from ideation through to delivery and review.
If you think you have what it takes but don't meet every single point above, please do still apply. We'd love to chat and see if you could be a great fit.
The Blend 📍
This role will work across both our Loyalty and Holidays divisions and is based out of our London office. We call our approach to hybrid working The Blend - it’s about giving you the flexibility to choose where you do your best work, while staying connected with your team and the wider business.
This means you will be required to spend at least two days per week in the office, with the rest of the time working from home. You may also be required to work from one of our other office or partner locations, based on your role and 'to do' list.
📌 Please note: We may close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applications or if business priorities change.
