General Summary:

## Overview

Qualcomm is seeking a Director of Business Development – Industrial IoT (Japan) to lead strategic growth initiatives across Japan's Industrial IoT, smart manufacturing, and digital transformation ecosystem. This role presents a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the business at a pivotal stage of expansion and take ownership of identifying, shaping, and capturing Industrial IoT-related opportunities.

The position requires close collaboration with Qualcomm's Global Industrial IoT organization, global business development teams, cross-functional partners within the Japan office, and key industrial, manufacturing, and technology stakeholders. A strong understanding of Qualcomm's Industrial IoT portfolio and its application to connected devices, smart factories, edge AI, automation, robotics, and next-generation industrial connectivity use cases is essential.

The ideal candidate brings deep familiarity with Japan's industrial ecosystem, strong relationships across manufacturing companies, industrial technology providers, system integrators, and channel partners, along with proven experience translating advanced technologies into commercial industrial solutions and digital transformation programs.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Strategy

• Develop and execute a Japan Industrial IoT market strategy aligned with Qualcomm's Industrial IoT business priorities and global commercial objectives.
• Identify new business opportunities across manufacturing, industrial automation, transportation, energy, utilities, logistics, and smart infrastructure sectors relevant to Qualcomm's technology portfolio.
• Shape opportunities from early concept through commercialization, including partner strategy, positioning, and value proposition development.
• Track and influence major industrial digital transformation initiatives, smart factory deployments, edge AI programs, and connected device opportunities.
• Manage design pipeline and KPIs; develop account strategies; lead pricing, forecasting, and commercial negotiations while working closely with functional teams in San Diego and Japan.

Customer & Partner Engagement

Establish and maintain senior-level relationships with:

• Manufacturing and industrial enterprise customers.
• Industrial automation providers and system integrators.
• Industrial OEMs, technology partners, and ecosystem collaborators.
• Global partners operating in Japan within the Industrial IoT and smart manufacturing sectors.
• Represent Qualcomm in strategic discussions, industry forums, trade associations, and customer engagements related to Industrial IoT, edge AI, automation, and digital transformation.

Internal Coordination

• Work closely with Qualcomm's Industrial IoT business teams, Japan country leadership, engineering, product management, legal, and commercial teams.
• Align regional opportunities with global Industrial IoT growth initiatives and strategic technology roadmaps.
• Support development of business cases, partnership models, commercial agreements, and long-term ecosystem strategies.

Execution & Governance

• Support commercial pursuits, including solution positioning, partnership agreements, and customer engagement strategies.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, commercial, and industry standards requirements.
• Provide regular pipeline, forecast, and strategy updates to senior leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in business development, strategy, sales leadership, or commercial partnership roles within Industrial IoT, manufacturing technology, industrial automation, semiconductors, telecommunications, enterprise technology, or related industries.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Japan's manufacturing, industrial automation, and digital transformation landscape.
• Experience working with multinational technology companies, industrial OEMs, or Industrial IoT solution providers strongly preferred.
• Strong executive presence with the ability to engage credibly with senior business, technology, and industry leaders.
• Proven ability to operate effectively across cultures and in a matrixed global organization.
• Fluent in Japanese and English (written and spoken).

## Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with advanced communications, semiconductors, wireless technologies, edge AI, robotics, industrial automation, cloud-edge computing, or Industrial IoT platforms.
• Familiarity with Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing, private wireless networks, industrial connectivity, and digitalization initiatives.
• Existing network within Japanese manufacturing companies, industrial equipment providers, technology partners, or system integrators.
• Experience driving adoption of emerging technologies and scaling Industrial IoT solutions from pilot to production environments.
