Description
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst specialising in Common Data Environments (CDE) and construction digitalisation.
This role operates at the intersection of business processes, information management, data standards and digital delivery. You will support the development and enhancement of CDE and construction technology solutions, ensuring project, design, construction, asset and operational information remains structured, governed, traceable and usable throughout the asset lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and document end-to-end processes across planning, design, construction, project delivery, handover, asset management and operations.
- Define and maintain CDE information workflows, governance controls, roles, responsibilities and data ownership models.
- Establish information management requirements, including naming conventions, metadata standards, classification structures, approval states, retention rules and lifecycle workflows.
- Translate business, operational and information management requirements into digital workflows and platform requirements.
- Work with CDE and construction technology platforms, including solutions from Autodesk, Nemetschek and LeapThought.
- Facilitate workshops with business users, project teams, consultants, contractors, technical teams and operational stakeholders.
- Map current and future-state information flows and identify process gaps, duplication, manual workarounds and opportunities to improve data quality and reuse.
- Develop user stories, functional requirements, acceptance criteria, process models, information exchange requirements and traceability documentation.
- Support Product Owners and Product Managers with backlog refinement, prioritisation, dependency management and delivery planning.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, platform teams and vendors to validate solution feasibility, integration requirements and alignment with enterprise standards.
- Support testing and implementation by defining business scenarios and validating configured workflows.
- Monitor the effectiveness of CDE processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in business analysis, information management, construction digitalisation, project delivery, asset management or a related field.
- Practical experience with CDE processes, information workflows, governance models or digital delivery practices within the built environment.
- Strong understanding of how project and asset information is created, reviewed, approved, exchanged, handed over and maintained throughout the asset lifecycle.
- Experience documenting complex processes using process flows, swimlane diagrams, information flow maps, data models or similar techniques.
- Experience translating business and operational requirements into user stories, functional requirements, acceptance criteria and workflow specifications.
- Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
- Good understanding of information governance, metadata, data ownership, data quality, auditability and traceability.
- Experience supporting product backlogs and Agile or iterative delivery.
- Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively across business, construction, operations, information management and technology teams.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience with CDE, BIM or construction collaboration platforms such as Autodesk, Nemetschek or LeapThought.
- Knowledge of Common Data Environment principles and ISO 19650 concepts.
- Experience within construction, property development, facilities management, asset operations or the wider built environment.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM), digital engineering, model and document coordination, and project-to-operations information handover.
- Experience with business process modelling, service design, data mapping or process improvement.
- Understanding of systems integration, master data, APIs, reporting or analytics.
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence or SharePoint.
- Experience supporting enterprise transformation, governance, compliance or public-sector digitalisation initiatives.
Ideal Candidate
- The ideal candidate is a process-oriented Business Analyst with strong knowledge of CDE, construction digitalisation and information management. You should be comfortable working across construction delivery, asset operations, information governance and digital product teams, with the ability to translate complex operational requirements into clear and scalable digital workflows.
