The organization partners with investment, product, client, compliance, technology, and operations teams to support portfolio setup, transaction processing, compliance monitoring, reporting, and account reconciliation.

Within Portfolio Services, the Client Order Management team oversees client-directed investment activity across a broad range of products, accounts, and investment strategies. This includes subscriptions, redemptions, cash movements, account maintenance, standing instructions, client-directed trades, portfolio rebalances, and other order-related events. The team plays a critical role in enabling investment activity, protecting data integrity, managing operational risk, and delivering a high-quality client experience.

Your Role and Impact

As an Associate on the Client Order Management team, you will oversee complex client order workflows from intake and validation through execution oversight and lifecycle management. You will serve as a trusted operational partner to Client Businesses, Portfolio Management, Trading, Product, Compliance, Technology, and Operations teams, helping ensure that client instructions are executed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established controls.

This role provides broad exposure to investment operations, client servicing, and cross-functional business processes. You will apply operational expertise and analytical problem-solving to manage risk, resolve complex issues, strengthen controls, and influence initiatives that improve the scalability and effectiveness of BlackRock’s global operating platform. You will also support the development of Analysts through coaching, knowledge sharing, and guidance on operational best practices.

Your Responsibilities

  • Oversee complex client order activities throughout the order lifecycle, ensuring accurate and timely execution in accordance with client instructions, operational procedures, risk frameworks, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for client order management processes, workflows, controls, and procedures, providing guidance to colleagues and cross-functional partners.
  • Lead the resolution of escalations, operational exceptions, and high-priority client requests, coordinating with Client Businesses, Portfolio Management, Trading, Product, Compliance, Technology, and Operations teams to achieve timely outcomes.
  • Review and approve complex transactions while identifying potential operational, client, and control risks and escalating concerns through the appropriate governance channels.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of recurring issues and implement sustainable corrective actions that strengthen controls, improve data integrity, and reduce operational risk.
  • Monitor operational performance through management reporting, service metrics, and risk indicators, while supporting audits, regulatory reviews, governance activities, and control testing.
  • Drive process enhancements, workflow optimization, and automation initiatives that improve scalability, efficiency, and the client experience, while mentoring Analysts and sharing operational best practices.

Your Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in investment operations, asset management, financial services, or a related operational environment.
  • Working knowledge of client order management, trade processing, account maintenance, cash movements, portfolio rebalances, or related investment lifecycle activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee complex operational workflows, evaluate risk, resolve exceptions, and make sound decisions in time-sensitive situations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including experience identifying root causes, interpreting operational data, and implementing sustainable improvements.
  • Experience working within a controlled environment and supporting operational risk management, governance, audit, regulatory review, or control-testing activities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across client, investment, trading, product, compliance, technology, and operations teams.
  • Ability to lead initiatives, share subject matter expertise, and support the development of colleagues through coaching, training, and knowledge sharing.
