Job Title: Accounting Supervisor
Location: India
Workplace Type: Remote
Job Summary
The future is bright for the Porch Group, and we’d love for you to be a part of it as our Accounting Supervisor.
Our Revenue Accounting team sits within Finance & Accounting and supports the business units at the heart of Porch’s growth. As Revenue Supervisor, you will be a primary owner of one or more business units’ balance sheets and P&Ls. You will close the operational accounting for each unit, with a focus on revenue and AR alongside areas such as commissions, intercompany, accruals, and cost-of-sales items, and you will be accountable for accurate financial statements. You will also be the first line of defense with operations when issues or new product launches arise, partnering closely with US operations and business-unit stakeholders. This is a dynamic, hands-on role that is closer to a mini controllership than a check-the-box one: you will switch between areas of work, think on your feet, and take initiative with support from your manager. You’ll also have real autonomy to drive change, including documenting SOPs and enhancing our SOX processes, as our business units grow and new ones come online.
What You Will Do As An Accounting Supervisor
- Work independently, performing professional accounting activities related to general accounting, revenue recognition, operational accounting, etc.
- Control, monitor, and review accounts to ensure accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with all pertinent procedures and regulations; review financial reports and statements; apply audit techniques and practices to ensure the integrity and accuracy of recorded financial information.
- Demonstrate proficiency in general ledger system and other reporting tools, and a solid understanding of accounting processes and controls. Independently run trial balances or account details to aid in research or refining processes.
- Work proactively and review the work performed by staff including but not limited to invoices, vendor detail, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly journal entries and account reconciliations as assigned.
- Review and analyze financial data and assist with preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Support management with ad hoc requests.
- Partner with managers and internal teams to maintain processes and controls related to assigned areas of work.
- Participate in the annual, quarterly, and monthly process with SOX and both external and internal audit teams.
- Ensure compliance with all internal policies, relevant regulations, and accounting principles.
- Work on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
- Work independently through problems that are ambiguous in nature.
- Exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
What You Will Bring As An Accounting Supervisor
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Minimum of 5 years’ work experience
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles
- Demonstrated wide-ranging experience in job responsibilities with multiple examples of achieving results and showing significant progress in changing environments.
