Cincinnati, OH
Up to $44/hour
Hands-On Machining Meets Engineering
Our client is seeking a skilled Machinist / Engineering Technician who brings strong CNC machining expertise along with an engineering mindset.
This is an excellent opportunity for a machinist who wants to work closely with engineering and play a key role in translating engineering requirements into practical machining processes, tooling, fixtures, setups, and production solutions.
The ideal candidate is more than a machine operator: you understand why a part is machined a certain way and can independently take a job from engineering drawing through setup and final machining.
What You'll Do
- Operate and set up primarily CNC lathes, with CNC mill experience also considered
- Review and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements
- Translate engineering requirements into practical machining processes
- Develop and understand machining sequences and process steps
- Set up CNC machines, including machine zeroing, tool setup, part location, and offsets
- Apply tooling and fixture knowledge to achieve accurate, efficient machining
- Use G-code and understand CNC programming fundamentals
- Work closely with engineers to troubleshoot machining challenges and improve processes
- Identify tooling, fixture, setup, and production requirements
- Support the development and implementation of practical machining solutions
- Ensure finished components meet engineering specifications and quality requirements
What We're Looking For
- Strong CNC machining experience, preferably with CNC lathes
- CNC mill experience will also be considered
- Hands-on CNC setup experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Working knowledge of GD&T
- Working knowledge of G-code and CNC programming fundamentals
- Understanding of tooling, fixtures, part location, and machining processes
- Ability to visualize machining sequences and determine practical process steps
- Experience with three-axis CNC equipment
- Four-axis experience is an asset
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineers
Preferred Experience
- Fanuc controls
- Doosan CNC machines
- Mastercam
- CNC lathe experience
- Experience translating engineering requirements into practical machining processes
- Strong combination of hands-on machining expertise and engineering aptitude
The Ideal Candidate
You are a skilled machinist with an engineering mindset who enjoys solving problems and understanding the complete manufacturing process. You can look at a drawing, understand the GD&T, visualize how the part needs to be machined, determine the appropriate tooling and fixturing, complete the setup, and produce the finished component to specification.
If you want a role where your machining expertise and engineering knowledge are both valued, this is an excellent opportunity to make a direct impact.
