Description
New Hanover County Health and Human Services is looking for an Administrative Supervisor to provide centralized oversight of administrative support functions across Health & Human Services. As a member of the HHS Centralized Support Services Supervisor team, this position helps ensure effective front desk, telephone, and administrative coverage while supporting consistent operations across the department. The Administrative Supervisor will oversee office operations, personnel processes; collaborate with other supervisors on performance management and quality improvement; and assist with emergency preparedness and response.
Other duties may include:
- Supervises administrative support staff by prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring training, and making hiring, disciplinary, and other personnel recommendations.
- Oversees daily office operations including telephone and switchboard functions, document preparation, mail distribution, records management, and troubleshooting administrative or software-related issues.
- Coordinates purchasing, accounts receivable, and vendor activities including sourcing, negotiating with vendors, reviewing requisitions, and addressing operational questions from staff and vendors.
- Monitors budgets and financial activities by reviewing revenue and expense forecasts, processing invoices, and preparing budget amendments and related documentation.
- Coordinates personnel and human resources processes including position requisitions, employment documentation, personnel action requests, hiring activities, and responding to staff questions regarding policies, performance evaluations, training, travel, benefits, and other HR-related matters.
- Coordinates administrative staff training and development by assessing needs, establishing standards, conducting training, and identifying appropriate training resources or vendors.
- Provides administrative and public support by responding to inquiries and complaints, preparing committee agendas and minutes, disseminating information, and making appropriate referrals.
- Supports department-wide operations and continuity through fleet and facility coordination, quality improvement efforts, and participation in emergency and disaster response activities.

8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
Must be available to report for emergency work assignment during emergency situations.
Salary Information:,
The target hiring range for this position is $48,678 - $65,715. The full salary range for an incumbent hired into this position is $48,678 - $82,752. Starting salary will be based on qualifications, relevant experience, internal equity, and budget. Candidates with exceptional qualifications and experience may be considered for a starting salary above the target hiring range, but not to exceed the maximum of the salary range.
