Job Title: After-school Nanny and Household Manager

Location: Portland, OR (97210)

Employment Type: Part-time, 20/hours per week

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, available within the hours of 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM; Priority core after-school childcare coverage being 2:00–7:00 PM

Compensation: $31-35 per hour | Mileage reimbursement provided for work related tasks

Start Date: ASAP

Requirements

  • Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver's license required; mileage reimbursement provided
  • Experience and confidence working with multiple young children
  • Must maintain a smoke-free and fragrance free environment
  • Candidates living within 20–30 minutes of NW Portland strongly preferred
  • Ability to navigate split-level home with stairs throughout the day
  • COVID-19 and flu vaccinations preferred
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

About Our Family

We are a busy, active family of five living in the West Hills, juggling two demanding careers while raising three young daughters (6, 4, and 2). Dad travels frequently for work, while Mom has recently returned to work after spending the summer at home with the girls. As we navigate this transition, we're looking forward to finding a new rhythm that allows us to balance our professional responsibilities while still being present for the little moments that matter most. Our daughters are sweet, playful, and full of energy, and our days are filled with activities, routines, and the everyday adventures of raising a young family.

We love encouraging our girls' curiosity, creativity, and growing independence, whether they're enjoying imaginative play, spending time outdoors, or participating in activities like swim lessons. We also follow a no-screen-time philosophy at home, with the exception of music and stories, and prioritize hands-on play, meaningful connection, and opportunities for our girls to explore the world around them.

We're looking for an extra set of capable, caring hands to help keep our household running smoothly particularly in the afternoon and evenings. We have a weekly housekeeper, so our greatest need is support with the day-to-day rhythm of family life, from transporting the girls to their activities and maintaining consistent routines to keeping things organized and managing the little tasks that can easily pile up. We value professionalism, reliability, and quiet competence, and appreciate someone who can take initiative, anticipate needs, and confidently manage responsibilities without needing constant direction. We're looking for someone who can become a trusted, long-term partner to our family, bringing consistency, initiative, and care to our household while growing alongside us as our needs evolve.

You enjoy being part of a family's support system while maintaining a respectful, work-focused relationship with the parents. You're comfortable working independently, communicating proactively, and knowing when to take initiative versus when to ask questions. You're also a confident, safety-conscious driver who can be trusted to manage transportation to school, activities, and other commitments. Key Responsibilities

Family Support & Child Assistance

  • After-school pick up, childcare support and coverage for afternoon-evening routine
  • Confidently engage and manage in childcare creative, and educational play
  • Prep backpacks/clothing/snacks

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Create and/or Maintain household organization systems as needed
  • Daily resets, tidy up, and prep home for cleaners
  • Light tidying (dishes, surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas)
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, etc.
  • Child birthday party prep 3x a year

Meal Planning & Prep

  • Prep healthy meals/snacks
  • Grocery shopping
  • Collaborative meal planning
  • Kitchen cleanup and maintenance

Inventory & Errands

  • Restock pantry/fridge/household supplies
  • Manage running household supply lists
  • Manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon/Costco/Target)
  • Amazon returns
  • Breakdown boxes and manage recycling

Laundry & Linens

  • Wash/fold/organize laundry
  • Maintaining a tidy and well-stocked laundry area

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Occasional deep cleaning tasks such as fridge, washer/dryer
  • Clean humidifiers and air purifiers (approximately every 3–4 months)
