The Water Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient operation and surveillance of water, oil and gas production facilities. This role ensures reliable production through disciplined operations, effective troubleshooting, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Achieve company source water goals, which include high recycled produced water targets, minimum brackish water usage, and zero freshwater usage while maintaining competitive cost. 
  • Safely manage and coordinate multiple parties within a 24/7 operational work environment 
  • Accountable for the operations and maintenance of the source water systems within the area of work (water treating facilities, water impounds, layflat lines, and other water transfer equipment) 
  • Work closely with Oil and Gas Production Operation team, Completion team, Engineering teams, Contractor and vendor personnel to ensure source water readiness while continuously optimizing operations 
  • Assist Water Lead with planning and facilitating rig up and rig down of all water transfer, water treatment, and source water temporary and permanent infrastructure. This would also include coordination with multiple company support teams for long lead items and major facility tie-in projects  
  • Coordinate with Water Lead on all contractor and rental equipment which would include the management of the contractors while on location along with the approval of the time and invoices once all work is completed 
  • Trouble shooting system issues and respond 
  • Assisting with PM’s associated with the water system
  • Execute all work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Operate and maintain assigned water facilities, including startups, shutdowns, and routine adjustments.
  • Monitor facility performance using field observations and surveillance tools; identify and respond to abnormal conditions
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions within scope of responsibility
  • Communicate effectively through shift handovers, status updates, and escalation of issues
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including maintenance, engineering, and vendors.
  • Complete required documentation, reporting, and data entry accurately and on time
  • Prioritize daily activities based on safety, production impact, and operational risk
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Some college or technical training preferred

Professional/Technical Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Previous oil & gas or industrial operations experience
  • Familiarity with production facilities, compression, or artificial lift systems
  • Experience with SCADA systems, PI, or other surveillance tools
  • Technical certification or relevant vocational training
  • Strong computer skills and experience with field mobility platforms
