Description

Participates in a supervised Police Services Officer program; receives training in, and performs a variety of non-hazardous field and routine administrative work in support of, or auxiliary to, police functions in preparation for a career in law enforcement; and performs other related duties as required.
Position is considered a Limited Term Appointment. All Police Services Officers are expected to progress into a Metropolitan Police Recruit, $5,745 per month (PO-05, Step A), plus $658.67 per month, Standard of Conduct Differential. Entrance Exam:
The entrance exam is a timed 2-hour, multiple choice exam that covers observation and memory, written communication, reading/understanding, and reasoning/analytical ability. A score of 70 is required to pass.
After taking the entrance exam, you will be fingerprinted before leaving the testing site in preparation for your background investigation.
Physical Readiness Assessment: If you pass the entrance exam, you will be notified later that day to report to the Physical Readiness Assessment (PRA) either the same day, or the following day.
Applicants who pass the Entrance Exam and Physical Readiness Assessment will have 10 days to submit their online Personal History Statement. After submitting the PHS, the background investigation will begin. The assigned background investigator will contact the applicant within 30-45 days to schedule a virtual clarification interview.
Applicants who clear the initial background investigation will be sent a Conditional Offer of Employment and will be scheduled Trip 2.

Applicants who do not reside on Oahu will be required to make two (2) trips for the selection process, with your third trip being relocation. Each trip is described below:
TRIP 1 (1-2 days)

- 300-Meter Run - 82.8 seconds
- Push Ups - 24
- Sit Ups - 24 in 1 minute
- 1.5-Mile Run - 21 minutes

- Psychological Examination (Psychological Interview will be virtual after you return home)
- Truth Verification/Polygraph Examination
- Medical Examination
- High School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle driver's license (type 3/automobile)
- US Citizen, US National, or Legal Permanent Resident (green card holder)
