About the role
We are looking for a Senior Advisor Planning to manage the Traditional Owner Integrated Schedule and optimise the use of Traditional Owner time for surveys and engagement over the long term. Reporting to the Principal Planning & Scheduling, you will also provide technical advice on heritage site disturbance risk as part of the integrated heritage management process.
Working across planning, Traditional Owner engagement, studies, approvals and operational teams, you will connect heritage risk information with short-term and long-term schedules. This is an opportunity to improve planning quality, strengthen decision-making and support timely engagement and approvals across Rio Tinto projects and operations.
What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Principal Planning & Scheduling and working across the integrated planning and heritage management environment, you will be:
• Providing technical advice on heritage site disturbance risk through the Integrated Heritage Management Planning process.
• Leading the review, analysis and presentation of disturbance risk ratings, fieldwork requirements and stakeholder consultation needs to senior leaders.
• Coordinating independent review and validation of heritage site documentation to support informed and timely decisions.
• Integrating heritage inputs into studies, approvals and life-of-mine planning, including clarification of heritage management triggers.
• Managing and maintaining integrated Traditional Owner schedules and execution plans aligned with operational and integrated plan milestones.
• Optimising critical Traditional Owner engagement pathways and forecasts for time demands, assumptions and remedial actions.
• Establishing five-year planning inputs and approvals schedules, including change and variance management protocols.
• Improving governance, training, capability and conformance within heritage planning and integrated scheduling processes.
About you
We’re looking for someone whose experience aligns with the key requirements below. You do not need to meet every “helpful for success” item to apply; if you bring relevant experience and are excited by the opportunity, we encourage you to submit an application.
Required for Success
• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
• Demonstrated experience in long-term scheduling, integrated planning, prioritisation or studies and life-of-mine planning within a complex operational environment.
• Experience managing multiple data inputs, actions and issues across concurrent planning cycles and stakeholder groups.
• Ability to analyse heritage, risk or planning information and translate it into clear narratives and recommendations for decision-makers.
• Demonstrated stakeholder management and communication capability across technical, operational and community-facing teams.
• A relevant qualification in planning, project management, business, heritage, land management or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Helpful for Success
• Experience with integrated heritage management planning, heritage approvals or site disturbance risk processes.
• Experience planning Traditional Owner surveys, engagement activities or fieldwork programs.
• Knowledge of mining studies, approvals, infrastructure projects or operational planning in Western Australia.
What we offer
Be recognised for your contribution, your thinking and your hard work, and go home knowing you’ve helped the world progress.
• A work environment where safety is always the number one priority.
• A permanent position working directly for Rio Tinto.
• A competitive base salary reflective of your skills and experience with an annual incentive program.
