This position supports Mercy’s Philosophy of patient centered care by performing essential Environmental Services functions throughout the organization. Primary work will consist of room event setups & non-hazardous trash removal from designated areas. All work is completed in a friendly, sanitary/safe way following infection control guidelines, universal precautions and directives from EVS Management team.Job Description
Job Duties
- Empty and transport non-hazardous waste in a safe/sanitary way.
- Fill in as a housekeeper as needed.
- Transport supplies as needed.
- Assist in room/event set ups and teardowns.
- Follow Mercy’s safety guidelines. Carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in fluent English.
- Basic math skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Must maintain neat appearance and professional image.
- The ability to use and demonstrate guest relation skills.
Professional Experience
- No prior EVS experience is necessary.
Education
- High school Diploma/GED preferred, not required.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
- None
Physical Requirements
Heavy: Must be able to perform occasional lifting up to 40 lbs and occasional team lifts up to 80 lbs to waist height.Will have to lift up to 100 lbs on rare basis for maneuvering heavy furniture.
Must be able to push/pull up to 20 lbs of horizontal force on frequent basis, 40lbs of horizontal force on occasional basis for over 100 feet, and up to 50 lbs on rare basis.
