About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and compassionate Allied Health Assistant to join the GEM@Home team at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. In addition to direct patient support, you will assist with equipment management, resource preparation and administrative and operational activities that contribute to the effective day-to-day running of the GEM@Home service.

Classification: Grade 2 Allied Health Assistant ($70,349.24 per annum, pro rata for part time).

What You Will Do

As an Allied Health Assistant, you will:

  • Work closely with Allied Health professionals to support the delivery of care in patients’ homes

  • Deliver delegated exercise programs and therapeutic activities under the supervision of Allied Health professionals

  • Work independently in the community while remaining within delegated responsibilities and scope of practice

  • Support patients to achieve their individual health, wellbeing and functional goals

  • Assist with equipment management, preparation of resources and other operational requirements

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families and members of the multidisciplinary team

  • Adapt to changing patient needs and service demands

About You

You will bring:

  • A completed Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (HLT43015) or equivalent qualification recognised under the Enterprise Agreement

  • Experience within a public health setting as a clinician or student

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills

  • The ability to work effectively both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

  • A compassionate, patient-centred approach to care

  • A current Victorian Driver Licence

  • A current National Criminal History Check, or willingness to obtain one

Desirable:

  • Knowledge or experience using digital care platforms and/or supporting virtually enabled models of care
