Job Description

Maintain, solve, and repair production equipment and automated systems to support safe, efficient manufacturing operations while meeting quality, cycle rate, and scrap targets. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, support equipment changeovers, and identify potential equipment failures to minimize downtime and increase reliability with limited supervision.

Line Mechanic Responsibilities
1. Fix and diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation-related issues on production equipment.
2. Perform routine, emergency, and corrective maintenance repairs to restore equipment operation.
3. Disassemble, repair, replace, reassemble, and adjust machine components to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
4. Coordinate the fabrication of replacement parts and tooling with the Machine Shop as needed.
5. Fabricate simple replacement parts for emergency repairs when necessary to minimize downtime.
6. Perform and document preventive maintenance (PM) activities in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
7. Provide leadership and support for PM activities, equipment improvements, and reliability initiatives.
8. Support all production lines and provide maintenance coverage across departments as required.
9. Mentor and develop Maintenance Mechanic backup personnel and assist with technical training.
10. Work independently or collaboratively with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues.
11. Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and GMP requirements.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Shift: A shift 12 rotating 5:45am to 5:50pm

Department-Specific Responsibilities
1. Perform and verify 2-axis machine alignments.
2. Fix, repair, and replace belts, conveyors, and associated drive components.
3. Maintain and repair pneumatic systems, including valves, regulators, cylinders, and filtration components.
4. Lead and support changeovers across all production zones.
5. Understand vision inspection systems, specifications, and fixing techniques.
6. Fix and repair sensors used in production, including photoelectric, proximity, and other automation devices.
7. Diagnose and correct basic electrical and control system malfunctions.
8. Fix minor PLC-related and machine logic issues using sound technical judgment.
9. Coordinate the manufacture and installation of replacement tooling and machine components.
10. Drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce downtime, improve equipment performance, and support production goals.


Competencies

  • Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient in email and basic Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize work and respond to changing production needs.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience required.

  • Associate degree (A.S./A.A.) or equivalent experience in a technical field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience repairing industrial equipment, production machinery, or packaging equipment.

  • Demonstrated solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

  • Ability to diagnose equipment failures and perform corrective repairs.

  • Experience performing preventive maintenance and supporting continuous equipment improvement initiatives.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements outlined in the Job Physical Demands Worksheet.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and lift as required to perform maintenance activities safely and effectively.
