The Operations Manager exercises leadership by managing all aspects of daily operations of the Boston Living Center, including oversight of site operations, scheduling, client engagement, outreach, purchasing, supply distribution, and the therapeutic milieu, while stewarding efforts to ensure a safe, clean, and compliant space that embraces members. Reporting to the Program Director, this position supervises the Harm Reduction Coordinator, Receptionist, and Peer Advocate, tasked with supporting an inclusive, compliant milieu. The role is responsible for cultivating a safe, welcoming, trauma-informed, and relationship-centered environment where members can access services with dignity and respect.


The Operations Manager serves as the primary leader of the daily member environment and all site operations,  providing staff supervision, operations management, conflict mediation, and staff development opportunities, while maintaining an active presence throughout the program. .


Location:

The Boston Living Center is a non-residential community center/resource program in Boston's Back Bay for individuals living with chronic health conditions (e.g. HIV/AIDS), substance use disorder, those experiencing homelessness, food insecurity and/or those at risk of experiencing street-based trauma.


Essential Functions:

  • Act in accordance with Victory Programs, Inc.’s Standards of Excellence & Philosophy Care always including maintaining professional ethics, boundaries and client confidentiality and working from a strength based
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction for all aspects of site and program operations, ensuring program operations  are in compliance with all contractual, regulatory, and legal requirements
  • Supervise, direct, train and evaluate the Harm Reduction Coordinator, the Receptionist, and the Peer Advocates. Provide weekly supervision of all assigned personnel
  • Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate staffing coverage. Exercise oversight of the milieu during periods of peak activity, such as breakfast, lunch, and member events
  • Oversee the provision of harm reduction, transportation, clothing, and basic necessities, while managing the procurement, organization, storage, and distribution of various program supplies, in conformance with local and state requirements
  • Oversee external outreach campaigns, from the development of outreach plans, strategy, and materials to the execution of accessible, on-the-ground outreach in public settings, including conducting street outreach, hosting community meetings, tabling at public events, developing multilingual, graphic outreach materials, and coordinating effective communications
  • Lead member engagement activities, oversee the delivery of navigational assistance, effectively resolve conflicts, facilitate warm referrals for resources, and proactively maintain a welcoming, dignified environment
  • Manage all elements of site operations, including the coordination of cleaning, maintenance, inventory, procurement, distribution, transportation, and other program operations. Function as the program’s designated ADA accessibility coordinator, in conjunction with the Program Director
  • In conjunction with the Social Services Manager, coordinate the implementation of workshops, groups, and events. Support implementation, updating and planning of peer support group curriculums in accordance to evidence-based practice
  • Manage the timely collection, accuracy and integrity of all data relating to member utilization of programs and services. As needed, coordinate external and internal resources for members
  • Responsible for addressing member issues in consultation with the Program Director. Collaborate with the Program Director and management team on the development or enhancement of policies, procedures, and practices
  • Spearhead special events for members
  • Provide staffing support for all member activities including the meals program, social events and workshops
  • Develop new and maintain existing service linkages to support the program, including developing relationships with local service providers
  • Attend weekly supervision meetings with the Program Director.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Represent the program in the community as requested by your supervisor
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, in-service training and agency workshops
  • As the assigned program lead, represent the agency in program events, State House rallies, fundraising and advocacy events, HIV/AIDS rally and walk and any additional functions
  • Perform any other duty or task that may be requested from time to time by your supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in community development, public health, human services, or a relevant field
  • Two (2) years of experience in a dynamic, fast-paced community setting serving clients of varying ages, abilities, and interests
  • Experience with high acuity population, particularly in homelessness prevention, outreach, and/or human service settings
  • Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational, writing and communication skills
  • Must be CPR certified (may be obtained upon hire)
  • Completed TB screening (may be obtained upon hire)
  • Three work related professional references; at least 2 from manager or supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience
  • Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding HIV/AIDS and the Principles of Harm Reduction
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in multicultural settings with diverse client groups
  • Experience working with diverse and disenfranchised populations in a community/milieu setting.

Position Type: Full Time (40 hours); This position is classified as an Exempt position. 

Rate: $65,000 Annually

Upon hiring, all staff members are entitled to up to 4 personal days, 160 hours of sick leave, 10 holidays, and 3.5 weeks of vacation. These figures may vary based on full-time or part-time status, and vacation time increases with length of employment.
